I heard from my neighbor about my house in Pontchartrain Park and someone ran by it and both said everything was fine there and no damage

Shows damage to the levee. Looks to be up to 5 or 6 feet of water in some spots. Not good.

Is there anything to the failure being at the point where the rail crossing is? Or is that coincidence?

It seems that would be an inherent weak point in the levee's structure and be prone to rapid erosion in extreme events.

Has medic posted an update on his place in Houma? I know he left, but he should be getting some word on it.

We've had 5 hours of daylight and have concluded that it will be 21 days to get power back to an entire parish.

My buddy rode it out and on his street a tree was pulled out of the ground and destroyed the water main and took down two power lines with their poles apparently. Haven't seen pictures, but he said it's really bad.

It's going to take a long fricking time for him to get both water and power back. Not sure about the rest of the parish/city.

Who_Dat praying that your wife will be back to health quickly. I mean both of course but having been admitted this long after the baby, I hope things are ok.

The fortunate thing is my wife and baby are at the same hospital so I’m with both of them throughout. Silver lining is my wife was admitted the day before the storm when she was planning to evacuate with her family so at least we’re all together.

Is your wife doing okay?

Renee is beautiful.

Does anyone have any idea when electricity/cable/phone service/internet is going to come back on in New Orleans?

Anyone know about power outages in the Episcopal or Camelot neighborhoods in Baton Rouge?

Just saw pics of C Port 2 Port Fourchon. It’s going to be a while getting Fourchon going again. The logistics of this Storm will rival Katrina. Gas is going to skyrocket

No word that I have seen.

@nolaready just tweeted this:

Best possible estimates say 2 weeks or so. Probability more like a month

Congrats on the birth of your beautiful baby! I’m a Mom of NICU survivor as well. I clicked the link, but still don’t see anything about sending money or supplies your way. Anything specific you need right now?
