Main guy is Retired meteorologist, that was the forecasting expert for little shite like Desert Storm/Shield, the White House, and lives on the Gulf Coast, etc.
If you didn’t already know the NHC is a a complete shite show, not due to their fault, but vastly underfunded, understaffed, obsolete equipment, shitty programs etc. Politics as usual. They are also not allowed to predict anything bad unless completely certain, politics again. Ask one of the oil companies about it, they all use “private meteorologist” for decades as well as big shipyards and Marine companies. Some people on here have access to those forecast now, maybe they can rely what they are saying.
All we know right now is direction, until they can locate a clearly defined eye to track.

So glad I needed gas this morning. It's gonna be a frickshow come tomorrow. I may just work from home to avoid people losing their shot over this.

Really new to these hurricanes. Family still lives in Slidell but I have to keep them safe. They are elderly as dirt.

Suggestion: Get a portable AC from Home Depot to run off of one of your generators. She'll be able to keep one room cold at least; and if she's anything like my grandma, she rarely gets out of her chair anyway.

I bought the generator deal the OB posted a few months ago. Gonna fill up my gas cans in the AM and then if I lose power I’ll run my fridge, AC window unit in my bedroom, and probably the TV.

Thanks to Covid, the whole home PTO generator we ordered 5+ months ago is still not here. 
I've got portables and plenty of gas which will be enough to run central AC, but it sure would be nice to sit out here and listen to a John Deere running everything, knowing that I've got 1,000 gallons of diesel sitting in the tank.
