Most of the MS coast was without power for 2-3 weeks after Katrina. Seems like this may be a similar timeline for many in LA, but hoping for a better outcome

The center of the eye appears to be about 23 mi ENE right now from Pancourtville 9:00 cst

Yeah. That’s why the wind estimated for Gustav is lower than what most in Baton Rouge experienced. The airport is where the wind and rain gauges are, and it’s on the far north side of the city.
