Can pine trees damage a roof if they fall, my husband thinks just the tops come off and it's fine. I am in jeopardy of it falling on our car. I am in BR (70817)

My guess is they will call it 155 operational like they did with Michael, and then probably up it to Cat 5 next spring depending on post storm damage assessment.

Who the hell is this state trooper on WAFB? He looks like they found a male stripper at the club last night and asked him to go back to the studio with them.

Been watching WWL on youtube, they are lacking in field reports so far. Maybe gearing up for the nasty stuff. Any other stations/feeds with better coverage?

#Ida is forecast to intensify to 155 mph max winds before landfall. Only 4 continental US landfalling #hurricanes on record (since 1851) have had winds that strong at landfall: Labor Day (1935), Camille (1969), Andrew (1992) & Michael (2019). All of those were Cat 5 (>156 mph).

If it is starting an EWRC, I doubt they do.

Can it drop it down from a 4 to a 3?
Not much, but it'll make me feel better

No. Drove from Pville to Baton Rouge and back this morning.
There's gas at Exxon at 73 and several other places along the way. Places now either have gas with little line/wait or they're out for duration. You should be able to find gas.

Some people don't realize that having a tree on their property is a responsibility. Last year (Zeta) I saw major tree damage.. Trees laying across the street and or laying on power lines. People don't take care of their trees as in pruning/trimming. It pisses me off to no end when I sit in my house with no power because some dumbass didn't trim their tree. And to the people that have pine trees on their property.. eff you. Jefferson Parish just cut down about 15 pine trees, in one short block, that were planted on the servitude on W. Esplanade. At this moment my power in flickering...
