How many baws we got riding this thing out in Nola? Praying for anyone in the path
I bet half of Nola residents didn’t leave. It’s going to bad in the aftermath.

I'd bet way more than half didn't leave

So has anyone mentioned if the eyewall replacement is good or bad at this point?

My cousin and her Boyfriend made it to Lafayette from Baton Rouge before breaking down. They are currently with the boyfriend’s family friend in Lafayette.

I’m in Alexandria. Should I go get them? Is traffic miserable?

Just got a call from my buddy near UNO. They jumping in there car now and heading towards Mobile. Holy shite this thing is scary. I'm worried about the rest of my friends that have stayed. I'm out of the way, but have slept about 3 hours all night.

That’s wrong. 155 mph isn’t just 7% worse than 145 mph. The force wind puts on an object is calculated using the speed of wind squared. So 145 ^2 = 21,000 while 155 ^2 = 24,000. That’s about 15% worse. That’s more than twice what the increase in wind speed was.

Power = force x velocity, force already has the v^2 component as you mentioned.

The wind power difference is actually (155/145)^3, or 1.22, or 22% worse.

I think it’s good because it doesn’t have time to reform, so the intensity they say has peaked

Was just about to post this, the forces are squared. Think zeta was like 75mph gusts? This might be 110-115? That's almost double the design pressure on your walls and windows.

How many didn't leave yesterday because of the traffic? Should have opened up the contraflow through I 10 in MS

Exactly. Contraflow would have allowed more people to leave, which would have saved many lives. Too many people will die because of this incompetent mistake by officials.

If not wanting to leave because of the evacuation traffic was bad, that's on you.

Stop looking for someone else to blame your bad decisions on.

Nobody prevented anyone else from evacuating.

Short term weakens the storm, long term strenghtening but it's hitting land so it's not going to strenghten. So, I'd say it's a slightly good thing at this point but it's my totally uneducated thoughts.
