Power outages in Slidell already?

quote:
Praying for all in the danger zone of this massive storm. I know there are hotels in the Jackson MS area with vacancies. If anyone needs a place to ride this out, let me know, I can help a few families.
O God,
Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed Your order and returned to its former quiet. You are still the Master of land and sea.
We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control; the Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land, and spread chaos and disaster.
During this hurricane season we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with passing of time.
O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son on our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem, where a stormless eternity awaits us.
Amen.

Bay St. Louis is now under a tornado watch. It has been seen.

There will be record numbers of tornados with the system when it comes inland. Not good

It's supposed to slow down, there should be about 12 hours from landfall until eye passes over BR area. That's a long time for a storm over land.

Ida is supposed to slow down
If by slow down you mean land travel speed, and if true, then this is horrible news.

fricking hell…
If there’s a god, I hope it’s watching over the people in SELA today.

Tornadoes are my biggest concern. They can be on you with little to no warning

Yea terrible. I came back the next day and couldn’t believe my eyes. The angle these storms come in makes a big difference for towns. I think if Ida was coming more from the direct south or southwest it would be worse. They’ve at least got a little bit of land in that southeast corner to help. Just praying for those in its path.

Reposting from before.. this is not a complete list, but this is a good plaice to start.
1) Charge your phones & tablets & batteries
2) Fill the Bath Tub with Water
(use it to flush toilet when water is turned off)
3) Find an axe.
(if you flood, you might need it to break the roof open to escape)
4) Make a Safe Room
(no windows if possible)
(put mattresses in front of windows)
5) Do not run a generator in your house or garage
(the Carbon Monoxide can kill you)
6) Fill up plastic cups with water and put them into the freezer.. or use jugs or just something..
(can use to keep food cold longer once the power goes out)
7) Put candles and flashlights and all stuff you might need in the safe room
8) Stay away from large trees outside
(they might fall on the house)
9) Remove all stuff from outside and move it into your house or garage. Chairs, Tables, anything can become a projectile. If you have a trampoline, take it down.
10) Drain your pool to 1/3 full
(don’t empty it or it might pop out of the ground)

Can someone give a rundown of the most recent update (current, forecast)? I see 140mph but tough to find anything else through all the prayers.

Where at? Power still on in Indian village
Posted on 8/29/21 at 6:27 am to Hulkklogan
It’s probably going to slip east of Baton Rouge. Putting St James/John, Ascension, and Livingston right in the path.

Whether it’s a 1 or 2 (or even TS) technically when it crosses BTR, I think the big concern/unknown for all of us in BTR is that most of us have never experienced being that close to the eye of the storm
This will be a major test for BTR. If we pass, then one would hope the good news is this could possibly be the worst we will ever see here

I just got off the phone with peej.
Usually I just ignore his calls, but I had an idea I may end up with some comedic gold so I answered.
Ended up not being a very interesting conversation
He did say I better evacuate now or I may be in trouble.
I live in missouri
