WAFB saying eye could go right over BR. Saying CAT 1 when reaches BR. 5-10 inches of rain. That seems conservative

Yes it does. Remember Laura was still a cat 1 in Shreveport

If you’re within 30 miles of the actual coast you better leave. My house is about 5 miles south of Lake Charles so roughly 20 miles from the coast and it was ugly. New Orleans and Baton Rouge won’t get CAT 4 winds like we did but all those towns south likely will. Good luck baws.

Those wind readings are from the plane. The surface wind is lower. If it reads 145 at 5000 feet the surface winds are closer to 110 still bad and can cause a whole host of damage.

Like said many times. Everyone stay safe

Nah if they say the winds are 145 mph that means sustained at the surface. They extrapolate the flight level winds to the surface. The reason you don’t see those winds when it makes landfall is the ground causing friction to slow the winds unlike over the water. Among many factors.

stayed for Laura a bit north of Lake Charles because I have a whole house generator. Now my whole family has PTSD

My son stayed on the ride out crew at his plant in a brand new explosion proof building. Windows were blown out and a corner of the roof was peeled off letting water flood in. Anyone in this storms path needs to GTFO

Look for a place to stay in a small town away from interstate. Most people are going to book by the major interstates.

We lost power in our hotel. Drove to Avoyelles Parish to MIL who still had power. No electricity on 45 from Nachitoches southward. So eery

Nitpicking, but Camille eye swept Miss River S of Venice and Chandelier Islands for LA landfall as well.

I’m sorry my post offended you(out of all the political posts made in the last 72 hours) but 2020 taught me on thing... people trust the government way too much. I am adding perspective to those trying to decide to leave or not due “not being told.”

You didn’t offend me.. I was told something similar earlier by Duke, so I was just passing it on. All good from my side.
