If you leave right now though, you'll probably have a light traffic drive to where you are going.
And you will be less one car clogging the roads for those that didn't have the luxury (like you do right now) of being awake at 2:34AM to process the news.

What is that wind speed in general? Anyone know? What speed blows roofs off? What speed causes structural issues to brick houses?
I don't know these answers. I am putting faith in being far enough from the coast to where we don't get triple digit gusts for a long period of time.

Put down the bottle of Jack and leave as fast as you can.

mean they didn’t cancel a Saints preseason game on Saturday until Friday. Hard to fathom how it took so long to cancel the game. It’s a small thing but it is a signal to the city how serious this is and should have happened Thursday at the latest.
Everyone at every level was just bizarrely complacent and nonchalant about this. God help us.

There is no traffic from BR to LC. There is an accident in LC. Be cleared up by the time he gets here.

To anyone thinking about leaving.. IMO the time is NOW if you are going to go. When folks wake up, panic is going to set in and the roads will be traffic hell. You need to make the decision now.

I can’t believe I actually considered staying. I’m shook right now. I legit think I won’t have a home to go back to. I’m worried about all my neighbors and family who didn’t leave. I’m mad actually, that people stayed.
I would have stayed myself until now. Sounds like it’s not too late for folks to leave tho

Yep, I'm jealous of anyone who can leave now tbh. I'll be hauling arse back up to Albany to pack what I can, grab the dog, and hope to God I-55 isn't starting to back up yet. If it out of town by 6:30 I'll consider it a minor miracle.
Also, load up gas cans if you have spare room and fill up when you can if they're empty. I don't trust the fuel situation around here to be stable for the next few days if you plan on heading back home shortly after Ida passed through

Any idea on what Carville could experience w this hurricane?
They're going to be in for a rough time. Its basically on the way up to BR for the storm. Gusts over 100 could easily happen. Probably wont flood though.

This is how I get ahold of myself. Sorry. I have to vent and panic and bitch to y’all so that tomorrow I am level headed and calm as I steer 8 people including two elderly 90 year olds who will all be full blown panicking through this shite. Tomorrow is going to be hell.

Interstates are gonna be an even bigger shite show if local news picks up that wind graphic showing triple digits close to Baton Rouge.

I’ve always wondered why cities like New Orleans and Houston, and others don’t come up with a system to empty the lakes & bays, etc. right before a storm. It is going to fill back up.. so why not just help out the flooding a little bit.
Youre talking millions (billions?) in collateral damage towards global/national shipping/seafood/energy economies on top of storm damage that 99.999% of the time wouldn't warrant such measures

I think I am going to roll, i can't believe I am leaving my parents behind.
If i leave at 3, can I get into Alabama before shite happens? Wife and kid are there and we have a place in OBA

I’m in old Metairie and seriously considering leaving now. I have to get my parents out of here but they aren’t paying any attention to this.
