Water oaks equal danger. Trust me on this.

The very warm Gulf eddy continues to fuel #Ida tonight. Intensity estimates from satellite (SATCON) are now at 100 knots and #Ida's presentation is that of a major hurricane. ADT and Dvorak intensity estimates continue to rise suggesting the intensification will continue.

Katrina made landfall as a CAT 4, right? Didn’t it drop to a 4 right before landfall?

Cat 3 at landfall, but it was a weakening Cat 5 with a gigantic wind field moving a wall of water.

Duke, WTF! Recon is going to be interesting.

Literally five posts above this…

So while this is obviously a big storm, it’s not a Katrina. It won’t be a CAT 4. Itll be lucky to be a CAT 3.

Think of a hurricane as an engine taking heat and turning it into wind. Assume the surface is roughly 90. The higher the storm can lift the air, the colder it gets and the more energy it extracts.

Jeez, basically, cold air induction to make a car faster. shite.

1) Charge your phones & tablets & batteries

2) Fill the Bath Tub with Water
(use it to flush toilet when water is turned off)

3) Find an axe.
(if you flood, you might need it to break the roof open to escape)

4) Make a Safe Room
(no windows if possible)
(put mattresses in front of windows)

5) Do not run a generator in your house or garage
(the Carbon Monoxide can kill you)

6) Fill up plastic cups with water and put them into the freezer.. or use jugs or just something..
(can use to keep food cold longer once the power goes out)

7) Put candles and flashlights and all stuff you might need in the safe room

8) Stay away from large trees outside
(they might fall on the house)

9) Remove all stuff from outside and move it into your house or garage. Chairs, Tables, anything can become a projectile. If you have a trampoline, take it down.

10) Drain your pool to 1/3 full
(don’t empty it or it might pop out of the ground)

Texas? How jesus H christ Texas? Only steers and queers come from Texas and you don't look like a steer...so that pretty much narrows it down. I'll be keeping my eye on you.

Update 1 - from Houma, LA. It finally stopped raining around 6pm. Unrelated thunderstorms. The latest radar shows outer bands around 4 am.

Ok, I know this is political so Rummy feel free to delete, but Latoya just blamed the state for not evacuating NOLA. Said the state said they didn't have time to setup.

Guys really need your thoughts. Got the family out to Houston. I’m contemplating heading back tomorrow for 2 reasons.

1: I ordered some damns that a laborer of mine was going to install but they didn’t come in in time so not as prepared on the house as I’d like. We are about ready to move back in after we flooded in may.

2: I’m a roofing contractor so my business partner and I need to have our guys ready to roll and get out first thing covering people’s homes.

Thoughts?

It was a 4.

But barely, and only for a few minutes, practically at Port Eads. It was a 3 for all of it's run up to LA/MS line.
