no reason to not go fill gas cans up for your generator right now if you live anywhere on the NW gulf coast

Yeah the WPC 7-day forecast loops graphics haven't been updated in probably 15 years.

I was shocked when the ones they put on the NHC updates added city names.

Should do it regardless because I'm sure one will come up right behind this and middle finger someone in the next few weeks.

Maybe the mountains of Cuba will slow it down.

So MSY should be gtg?

I wouldn't be worried today.. but like every milquetoast meteorologist is saying right now... keep an eye on it.

I keep mine full all summer so I don't have to deal with crazy people at the gas station. If I don't use it, it goes in the mower or boat.

It's gonna have some shear to fight until it gets to the yucatan channel then it lightens up and looks good the whole way through the NW Gulf.

This is what im hoping makes the difference. The HWRF went sloppy in the W Car, with dueling vorts. Anything to tilt our system cant hurt.

Anything to limit time to take off the in gulf.

Also, check the PV on the GFS. There's a little streamer in the western gulf as the system enters (e pac system responsible?). An organized system obviously bullies it away but less organized and it'll take longer.

What about if the system gets organized earlier than anticipated? Would that contribute to pushing the streamer away sooner and tracking more west?

So why might it not be as bad?

Here is this afternoon's HWRF, looking at low level rotation. You see the two boxed centers (boxed because circles made them look like sideways tits) with the two competing low level rotations? That's pretty disorganized on approach to the Yucatan.

Which means it takes a while to get together enough to take advantage of the warm gulf, and also tends to push it further south and more of a Texas problem. It would likely hit major status by landfall, but not quite the high end potential of a Louisiana track.

If you don't know what PV is in this context, don't worry about the streamer. It's a good way of seeing where potential hostile conditions may exist for a storm, but it's not going to matter for steering that much.

I saw the stone cold gif on StormCast, then it was deleted, then a site admin posted a warning to not post BS. there.
