I am, but my kids don’t have school Monday or Tuesday because of parent teacher conferences. We are just going to Dallas until Wednesday and making a mini vacation.

I know this was from a few days ago.

Ummm... shite Our work forecasters who haven't missed on a storm in 4 years just sent their first alert. I can't share screenshots due to proprietary rules, but they have it hitting as a cat 4 just west of the TX/LA border. I really hope they are way off on this one.

Hopefully, your work doesn’t pay them much since they were off at the start; otherwise a magic 8 ball and a contingency fund are cheaper…but it ain’t here yet.

The four models posted by Slackster have landfall within 30 or so miles of each other.

yeah it's been what? 13 years since Gustav?
Yep. Over the past few years we've had some TS come by and loosen up trees and poweines, but nothing strong like Gustav.

The fact that last year was so active of a season in La, many of the weakened and dying trees in SoLa were knocked down and have been subsequently removed. I would say that is a somewhat of a silver lining this go around.

I don't think that's true in the BR area. We were spared anything but maybe 30mph gusts.

I think we have plenty of trees that could come down.

Main reason to leave BR

Broome as Mayor, with Paul as Chief and half of the officers on staff to police post Katrina/Gustav. Get ready BR. Don’t worry about buying gas for generators or wood to board up. You better be at Academy buying ammo bc Paul won’t control the chaos like Kip and Leduff did.

Yep, also had Katrina weaken some trees a few years earlier. Gustav was just the perfect storm to take down trees, wasn’t really terrible in other regards IMO

I bet the freeze weakened a lot of trees though. Guess we will find out soon

That depends on a number of factors.

Main issue is worrying about trying to get out of the city on Tuesday.

Because I don’t want to risk my kids getting stranded on the side of the interstate. I’ve been a part of plenty of evacuations and I’ve ridden out plenty of storms. I know what my house can handle and I make preparations accordingly.

Stranded how? You lost me here. If your house is strong enough to withstand a CAT3 storm, I assume you have a vehicle reliable enough to take on the the interstate

There’s no telling what can happen with these storms. You don’t worry about flooding or tornadoes??

So what’s gonna save us? Will it be Cuba, the Yucatán mountains or the Sahara sand storms?
