You and everyone else on this board. Lmao!!
They extended in 2 days last year so a lot people are just holding out hope they do the same.

MDWFP also released an article yesterday that many in the state may have been seeing less deer this year which could be impacting the number of harvests’.

We are way down on our doe numbers this year so I’d welcome an extension to get a few more does. But like previous poster said, I feel like they would have announced it already.
What outdoor board TD ballers we have that are in the know? Some people I’ve talked to said MDWFP could be extending the areas that end on Saturday to Feb. 15th.
Temp in Madisonville has dropped 12 degrees in 25 mins lol

Hermanville (Claiborne Country) has been slow this year for us. We normally like 35-40 deer a year and we are only to 18 right now. We’ve killed some nice bucks, but not seeing the deer we normally do. Last year was incredible. Best year we ever had, and this year is on pace for the worst. Crazy for sure.

I personally think it has to do with the massive acorn crop this year. We aren’t seeing a tenth of the deer we normally do in our food plots.
I know exactly who the jeranamo poster is. lol.
We use triple 13 and spread at 250lbs per acre.

Our plots look fantastic this year. No till drill. We fertilized 2 weeks ago and they jumped up again. This photo was taken this past Saturday.

Morse Taxidermy in Ponchatoula charging $750 this year. Phenomenal work. You can get them cheaper, but his work is top notch. I keep going to him because I know what I’m getting.

Let’s go ask Mississippi Whitetails Facebook page for their thoughts lol.

Ruger Marlin 1875 Trigger

Posted by LSUTiger23 on 11/7/25 at 5:22 am
I was finally able to get my hands on the Ruger Marlin 1875 45-70. Absolute beaut of a gun. The trigger comes from the factory over 6 lbs. Has anyone put an aftermarket trigger on the gun?

I am seeing the Timney and Ranger Point Precision as the most popular, but I’m curious if anyone here has put one on.

TIA!

Gotcha. Thanks for the feedback. I think I will just wait until more promising rain forecast.

Trying to decide if I should fertilize on Friday. Rain isn’t a guarantee in Port Gibson but there is 30-40% chance.

My question is if we fertilize and do miss the rain, would morning dew do enough to dissolve the fertilizer in the soil? Thoughts? We have to fertilize 34 acres of plots so it’s a chunk of money that I’d like to not waste.

Trying to get to the camp to spread fertilizer on Saturday. Looks like another round of rain next week.

Anyone have rain report in Claiborne County. More specifically Hermanville/Port Gibson?

Yep. That’s why we are waiting as well.
