Fast food prices really show how bad inflation really has gotten

i believe we have been instructed by POTUS to refer to this phenomenon as "shrinkflation" or "greedflation" which, of course, shifts blame from government decision making to corporate greed.

I'd have to be absolutely be dying of hunger to pay 17 dollars for Subway. You can get a great sandwich for less at better places.

It originally started as inflation, but you're out of your mind if you think companies didn't take advantage of the situation.

I haven't been back to subway since they got rid of their daily deals...they used to be $6 for a specific 6-in, chips and drink. Great for lunch...

With all the other sandwich places out there now...Jersey Mike's, Firehouse, hell even Jimmy John's is better. I truly don't understand how Subway stays in business...especially after all the pedophile Jared mess.

no, i fully acknowledge this. but the point stands that industry is reacting to a government created situation.

Now you know why it's taboo to discuss salaries amongst one another.

A private equity firm bought Subway for $10B in August. For the full $10B price to be paid out, Subway's cash flow needed to reach certain milestones over a specified period after the deal closed.

Most here will put full blame on the government for the increased prices, but that’s just being lazy.

You have to use the app at a store that accepts coupons or it’s a rip off. Can get a foot long for 7 bucks.

Yesterday I heard Bill Maher and Joe Scarborough parroting the White House saying that the economy is great, completely oblivious to how painful it is out there for people. We are all used to Ruling Class antipathy to people who live in flyover country and who work for a living . But what makes me laugh is the idea that they truly seem to believe that telling people that their own reality is false, doesn’t seem to be a very winning strategy. And yet they persist and double down. All is well. Inflation is minimal. The economy is great. You are fine.

Bidenomics. This is it in full force. The new normal has a lot of folks believing $3.00 for a gallon of gas is a good price and inflation is just part of life.
Printing all that Covid money and handing out all those "free giveaways" is coming home to roost. And wait until you see what financing foreign wars is gonna cost you.

OK, but what about at a macro level?

Throughout our history the vast majority of people have worked to survive. Most people think that's just our stable level due to human nature and scarcity of resources.

Here in the west we got prosperous and then fat and happy and the percentage shifted.

Prices reacted accordingly.

We will get back to the point of stability but the transition will not be pretty.

Order through the app and use promo codes. We get 3 foot longs for $17.99 all the time. You get reward points too when you use the app.

There is a mexican place down the road that I can get chicken and beef fajitas for $11.95, when I tell them I dont want rice\beans\tortillas or chips and salsa they just about double the entrée size. Plenty for 2 lunches.

100%. I ate JM for the first time last year and I haven't gone to Subway again since. About the same price point but JM is of far more higher quality it's not even funny.
