Yes I’m poor and subway sucks.
So now that’s out the way, the point here is that I paid $17.84 for a chicken rotisserie wrap with some little bag chips and a small drink.
I said wtf to the guy that was ringing me up… he told me quote “ I know man, everyone is complaining about it. .. this same wrap was just over 12$ two years ago when I started working here, I know bc it’s my favorite”
I said so much for the days of 5$ footlongs
Makes you wonder how they stay in business. Seems like we’d be Getting to the point where people just stop going there.

quote:It was Ireland, and altough this is true, Subway is just the entity that was sued for it. Almost all American style white bread, including the buns at virtually every fast food chain, would be considered cake, using the same criteria (sugar content).
Just as an extra tidbit. Subway bread isn’t actually bread. It is cake, at least some European countries classify it as cake.

I've said this several times here, but the Subway near my work gets no business from me anymore ever since they charged me $18 for a footlong, chips, and a drink a year or so ago.
We did eat Subway at the house last night though, but we had the coupons they sent out. $17.99 for three footlong subs. Now it's just the sandwiches, but we have drinks and chips at home, so three footlongs for the same amount that you paid seems a lot more reasonable, and I only do Subway with a coupon these days because their prices became so fricking outrageous.

I haven’t bought a lunch out since the Thursday before new year when my wife and son met me for lunch.
I looked at the fact I was spending $16-$20 per meal out and decided it would be cheaper (and much healthier) just to bring leftovers.

I used to love Subway, but haven't been to one in probably over a year.
I've been hearing about how expensive they've become and can't understand what happened.
Not but 2 years ago, you could $5-$6 footlongs and maybe at most a footlong combo would cost $8-$10.
Now I'm seeing prices of nearly $14 for just a sandwich.
Inflation has been bad, but not 200% price increase bad.
No way they stay in business for long at that price point. You can go get better food for less money at a ton of other places.

Not like a hawk... by the time I realize she was already closing the sandwich and I didn't realize how bad it was until I got it back to the office

The only time I eat at Subway is when we are at the camp because it is the only "fast food" close by.
Same. Subway is one of the few chains you can find in the middle of nowhere.

quote:You're getting all deep & heavy over a simple comment that sometime people like to take a break from preparing dinner and cleaning up after at home and occasionally like to take a break from it and eat out.
OK, but what about at a macro level?
Throughout our history the vast majority of people have worked to survive. Most people think that's just our stable level due to human nature and scarcity of resources.
Here in the west we got prosperous and then fat and happy and the percentage shifted.
Prices reacted accordingly.
We will get back to the point of stability but the transition will not be pretty.

They are surprisingly busy because they are the only joint in "town" besides maybe a Hunt Brothers.

I’ll grab subway when they put buy one get one free on their app.
Will order two for the price of one and the four of us eat em at home. We have chips and drinks here.
But buying local is where it’s at. I just picked up two chicken schwarma plates with a Lebanese tea for 24 bucks. Delicious and so much more satisfying

Where do you live?
I just looked by ordering online and my total for the same thing was $12.33. (I didn't actually place the order). It did apply an automatic discount but even without that, the price would be $14.21. Thats a full $3.50 cheaper than yours.

We have office staff that Ubereats breakfast and lunch 4-8x a week. I don’t know how they afford it.
My wife is always amazed when the other nurses on the night shift will pay something like $15 for a whataburger taquito to be delivered to them at 2am.

It really was..I had way too much faith in humanity to think someone who works at subway could operate a squeeze bottle...I'm not being sarcastic...this showed me how low the bar has gotten
