I just re-read a statement by the camera man who witnessed his death. Said the stingray was something like 8 feet. He was filming the last shot, showing it swimming away from Irwin, who swam over the top of it. The Ray struck him several times, but the cameraman didn’t know anything was wrong until he looked up and Irwin was standing in a pool of blood. Said he had a 2” gash in his chest, pumping out blood.

often he would do interesting stuff but mostly he was a complete idiot who thought any living animal was just there for him to play with so he constantly acted unsafe around animals just to prove he could.
i liken his intentional ignoring common sense around animals to liberals who go around thinking communism is better then capitalism and terrorist just need to be loved, despite the fact that they should know better.
he was always trying to harass stingrays and one reacted so darwin caught up to him for it
