When I was in Paris, I had fried chicken at a cafe. Tasted so much better. Didn't really taste fried or greasy. Tasted cleaner if that makes sense.

Bill Gates is not going to like this one bit.

If McD’s does this, it’s a return to the glory days of their french fries.

That roast beef was the real deal. The fried chicken was pretty damned good too.
My manager was a stoner and would disappear, leave the building completely. A busy Saturday and we only had 2 staff, one bitch a-hole running the register and myself cooking (only been there a few days and was somewhat clueless still). Customers were stacking up and she kept pushing me so I said frick this and rolled out mid-lunch rush. Never returned.

Their fries were the standard in the industry through the 90's, now they're just bleh at best.

saying Make America Healthy Again after praising a company who went from the healthy option to the unhealthier one pretty much sums up RFK.

LINK Here's a good study from the respected British Medical Journal on the health problems with Linoleic acid. You mentioned pseudo science with oleic acid, and I believe what you meant to say was Linoleic acid. They are not the same thing.

My manager, Gerry, was a Vietnam vet who used to sell us ounce and a quarter bags of tight buds (not sense) for $40. He said it was Colombian. We'd sit out at one of the outside tables after the shift and I'd break out the bong. This was back in '81, before Nancy declared the War on Drugs. I mostly worked the kitchen, not the line.

We've been lied to over the decades. Saturated fats like tallow, lard, butter are actually healthy fats. Much more so than toxic seed oils like soybean, corn, sunflower, safflower, cottonseed...

Same people who say they magically don't get sick when eating bread in Europe.

quote:Glad fried Swiss Cheese sticks weren't on the menu.
When I worked at Roy Roger's Restaurant on Claiborne in high school, we used to fry vegetables in animal fat and animals in vegetable fat.
Frying Swiss in cheese and cheese in Swiss isn't particularly appealing.

Good to know that fast food french fries are now healthy.

Almost all food in Europe is better/healthier.
They regulate the frick out of food and rightfully so.

I enjoy when RFK, Jr. is positively influencing the health decisions of Americans. Oh... nice shot of the Deja Vu album.

Not as much as you think when compared to the US.
They use a lot of the same additives under different names. They also use seed oils.
There's even *gasp* foods used in the EU that are banned in the United States.
This topic might be the most social-media influenced topic ever.

One of my favorite chains. I remember about a decade ago there were rumors that they were going to open some locations in the BR/Livingston area, but the plans fell through. Sure do wish they’d open one!

theres no way we have enough animal fats to supply the whole fried foods industry, right?
Yeah this could potentially drive up demand and cost, which would likely discourage McDonalds from making the same switch - although McDonalds is an extremely powerful force in that industry.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t Steak and Shake sell a lot of beef products? I’m sure they can get a lot of suet internally or through their suppliers that they (or their suppliers) can use as feedstock for beef tallow.
It’s the smaller chains that would be less likely to switch.
