i feel like i'm talking to a dead cat sometimes.
You have to remember, these are the same people who adamantly believed that “everyone staying inside and shutting down will make the shutdown shorter”.

I know. My response was to the guy that wanted to open everything but NOLA area

We have 8,000 cases
That's 0.18% of the population

It’s like a case of strangles in the barn. Better to let it run it’s course and it will be over in 2 weeks. It’s already there.

He needs two more weeks to get to the 90/10 splits with the feds.

that's exactly correct.. we are making it worse the more we are separate.
watch the rate of other illnesses once things completely open up.. our everyday anti bodies are disappearing.
on top of the fact that we will bankrupt the state.
this is money and control from this fricking gov

If this is the last time it's extended, then it's fine. I understand wanting to make sure this is wiped before bringing everyone back together.
That said, I've noticed a bunch of people out and about, so I don't even know how effective it is anymore. Anything past the 15th will be absurd and I think people won't put up with it past the 15th.
Yes, people are going to ignore it but he is killing businesses. What if he revokes their licenses to operate if they open up in defiance this order? What about the kids that don't get to go to summer camps at he sits there and manipulates data to his narrative that actually shows the opposite? What about the lost tax revenue for the state and municipalities?
What happened to personal responsibility? He is a liar, going all the way back to LSU may not play football if I don't raise your taxes. He is condescending in his tone and is doing more harm than good.

But, I'm giving it two more weeks as an extra precaution and then that should be it and life should return to as close to normal as possible.
The shutdown had zero positive effects at this point.
The only purpose was to prevent hospital overruns.
It serves no other strategic purpose.
None.

there's currently in internal fight among legislators. Half of them are like "F the Gov, we got bidness!" and the others are saying, "not going up there, cant make me"

What happens when new cases and deaths start flaring up a week after opening up in two weeks? Because the virus isn't just going away in two weeks. We shutting down again?
We need to keep those at most risk (elderly and/or obese) at home and the rest of us get back to work. As for the asymptomatic spreaders...well, I don't really have a good answer for them, but if you are healthy and under 65 (vast majority of working people) and aren't obese, then you have a 99.9% chance you will be alright IF you even catch it.

I believe there is a wiki page you can see this. But I've never been on it, so don't know for certain.
On the ldh site you can do it if you download the info by region and play with the figures. I can't do it today, but will see if I can screw around with it tomorrow and post in the daily COVID thread

I quit doing replacements when the first order came down. Thought I was gonna start back up mid April then it got extended to May 1. I already started feeling stupid turning down business all this time, I was stupid. TBH, I'll start back tomorrow after hearing this news.

Had some time this morning to mess around with the data, will still post in daily thread once updated.
14 Day Average by Region
I removed Region 1 and started the graph at 4/10 to fix the scale.
