It's actually mountainous, but they did make technical spots with raised platforms. It's what mountian bikers are demanding. It's been a big hit.

I didn't say it was world class, but for a relatively flat area of Alabama, it's still available to at least play in. I was speaking in generalities that pretty much all of Alabama can offer outdoor activites in pretty much all areas.

I have lived in every part of the US and CA is the undisputed #1. Within the past 3 months I have hiked in Yosemite, whitewater rafted, gone water skiing and scuba diving. All within a few hrs drive. If it was winter I would have gone snow skiing also.

Those AZ and AL pics look fun.
Rock sections scare me now because I broke my arm in Nevada busting my arse, trying to go over a rocky section. The scary as shite part was that 2 feet away was a 50 foot drop. Yeah, not doing that again. I'm sticking to sections that flow and aren't going to get my go pro footage on faces of death.

Also, if I wanted that class of rapid, I'd just float Suicide. I'm not that advanced, so class 3s/4s suit me just fine.

I would give the slight nod to NC over VA too. The ski resorts are about equal. However, Virginia tends to have better ski conditions while NC has better beaches. There really isnt much difference between the two though and they should be ranked very closely. Also, VA borders WV which provides easy access to the best skiing, white water and mountain biking in the South East/Mid Atlantic.
