Also, the pros exit off before the big merge with 110 then get right back on after a few blocks on the surface streets.

It actually helps congestion and is faster.

You are right, so let's do nothing and enjoy our current cluster.

This is stupid. They haven't even applied for the money yet. This is all tied to "if" funding is approved.

Spend a half billion to put a band aid. Just get the money and build a loop

You do realize that $500M is not going to touch a loop, right?

No, Baton Rouge's need for a new bridge or loop doesn't change the fact that I-10 needed to be widened 25 years ago. This would have to happen regardless.

Exactly right.

This project needed to be done whether you build a loop or not.

All interstates in EBR need to be a minimum, of six lanes (3 in each direction). With this project and the one for Highland on East we will be close if not there when completed. There would be no bottlenecks in the parish.

Hopefully the planners can see fit to incorporate a by-pass or a couple of by-passes or even a loop in the mid range plans and get that started using private companies and toll roads.

But this project had to advance and the fact that it took so long is an indication of how politics drives this state instead of practicality.

It'll get it started and tolls for 30 years will cover the remaining 5.5b

And those tolls will never go away.
I-30 in DFW and the CCC in NOLA-Westbank are the only two places I've driven that USED to have a toll.

The only location along the interstate's 2,400 miles between Jacksonville, Florida, and Los Angeles, California, where traffic does not share two or more lanes is eastbound just after the Highland Road exit and the foot of the bridge in eyeshot of downtown Baton Rouge.

I wasn't aware of this one lane section. I checked google earth and can't see any place along that stretch that is one lane??

When people balked at raising taxes we were told we were doomed. Now this project and a few others are moving forward. Amazing.

so the video said they will get rid of shoulders to make more thru lanes due to right of way constraints....

baw....a loop is the only answer.

and to the poster above who mentioned 500 Million, that will not even pay for one new bridge across the river.

I-10 goes to one lane in San Antonio, both ways.

They have a loop however, but if you are just taking I-10 through the city, it'll go down to one lane.
