Your map doesn't show Louisiana as the highest taxed state. Which you argued until you were blue that we were.
I mean if we are talking numbers, I highly doubt that. For example, California has more homeless folks than Louisiana.
Texas probably has 5 times the amount of people living in poverty than Louisiana.

It’s a little cheaper for me between Texas and Louisiana.
16k LA state tax, 7000 property tax and 10% sales tax in 2022. 23k without sales tax.
0 state tax, 17,500 property tax, 8.25% sales tax. Tolls about $1900 a year. Total 19.4k .

you didn’t even include insurance, car insurance in Louisiana is absurd as well as home insurance/flood insurance

Would tourist industry taxes in NewOrleans bump Louisiana up? Seems that due to New Orleans, Louisiana would have a lot of tourists per capita.
I would think so, but I dont know how much the state including local govts receive with that or how much the state collects in severance taxes for oil.

I said of the red states, which it is.
You tried so hard, yet you failed again

LA is red only on social issues

It's still too much. Cut govt by 75%

This is my primary complaint about Louisiana. We’re taxed the highest in the sunbelt but without any of the results.

Texas doesn't have a State Tax. Are property taxes factored in? We pay a frick ton of property taxes in Texas

A lot more people in Texas use private school than what is thought.
Because they can, not because they have to
In the big cities they absolutely fricking have to. HISD is 80% free lunch/poverty. English is not the primary language in many many schools.

Your life sounds like hell, presuming most of that is work related.
The other factor LA sycophants always discount is higher wages and more jobs in TX. And, property tax is controllable based on where you live. (for non Houston people) You can locate into older hoods (with more expensive houses that have appreciated) and cut the MUD taxes out (generally based on bonds issued to build drainage, etc. when a neighborhood is new, that get paid off in 15 ish years.)
But DFW has us beat to hell. 3.46% in Fort Bend County (MUD 171 and 172) with assessments of value at 7-10% increases every year, or 2.22% in Southlake with less than a 10% valuation increase *total* in a six year period.

The more telling part of that statistic is that our SALT sales tax rate is about 3 points higher at the maximum combined rate yet we’re only collecting an average of $126 more per person. But, that’s what happens when you give an exemption every time a business bats their eyes at you.

I live off a toll road and the company I work for reimburses me for all my tolls but not my wife’s so it’s about 600 to 700 a year I pay out of pocket. I bought in a neighborhood with a 1.57% tax rate without the mud tax because I’m on septic. I looked at building in new neighborhoods and taxes would have been as high as 3.4% with a 1/4 acre lot.

Louisiana is pretty bad at economic development. Texas does a TON more incentive deals than Louisiana does
