I have a camp in that area. I can get a Walmart or Costco delivery there and never have to go into town. When I stay there I do like going to the Club Car lounge for a few drinks in the afternoon, then hitting Maria's for dinner.
Bogalusa is a shithole, Franklinton isn’t far behind.
The rural areas are from meh to OK but god forbid you need any emergency services there. And forget having a sense of community there.
Everyone with any gumption or ability has left there over the past 60 years, it’s a wasteland.

Ehhhh as StTammany scandals go, this doesn't even make the top 100. Not even the top 10 of Randy Smith infractions. This did not involve major theft, murder cover ups or child abuse and the cover up.
I knew a member of the DAs office who would "escape" to the South shore on the weekends to get away from the corruption during Reed's tenure.
Smith has yet to solve the Nanette Krentel case.

Nice to see a primary source cited which shines credible light on the personality involved when so much of the discussion involves little more than rumors.
I am almost surprised that he avoided facing federal charges such as 18 USC 242 over that incident. Looked very close to a willful criminal act. Especially with so much documentation and a correct contrary legal opinion previously given by the DA.

My thought exactly. If I were to get into a fight on Friday, I’m being held until the judge is back on Monday. How the hell was he not arrested with all the “witnesses”? Even if he did leave, he’s not hard to find.
