Exactly.
However, it turned on the British when Adams and Paine and the like were able to use that incident to incite the feelings of revolution in the country.
The more you read about the lead up to the revolution, the more today's US looks like the colonies. The authorities in the US should brush up on their history, before shite gets really bad here.
I am glad this is finally going the direction it should be. We have a much bigger problem than race in our country today and this should be the focus of this. And quit saying it is, because it hasn't been for 4 days.

The increase in police brutality in this country is a frightening reality. In the last decade alone the number of people murdered by police has reached 5,000. The number of soldiers killed since the inception of the Iraq war, 4489.
These are disproportionate sample sizes. Sample size is as important as the statistic. You are measuring a sample size that is almost 300,000,000 and comparing it to a sample size that doesn't even register on that scale.

I don't trust most cops. Sorry. Have a jaded view.

Valid point BUT what does it say when more people are killed by their own cops than in a warzone?

maybe with you but you know for the most part people have made up their mind and no matter what happens they will always fall back on "well he shouldn't have told him to get out of the street anyway"
I agree. We've seen it posted over and over again here from supposedly neautral posters about them having an issue with the cop telling him to get out of the road when it is clearly a law.

Again, not being argumentative, but there are plenty of people that have parroted that number (like the film that you cite) and some say it comes from the USDOJ, but I have never seen anything that supports that.
In most of the articles that talk about it, they say there are no federal level trackings of the number (thus I am not sure how the USDOJ would release such a number).
Again, I am not saying the number is high, low or anything - it is just unsupported from what I have seen.

just asked to apply the link.
But, you say the sample size is different.
One is the total population of our nation.
It's not a sample or a poll. The point was. MORE PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SHOT BY POLICE IN THE LAST TEN YEARS, THAN HAVE DIED IN THE SANDBOX.
That was the point. Sorry I had to yell.

I can't believe I have to say these things. I'm somewhere to the right of Attila the Hun.
You say it because it's true. Civilization hasn't come as far as some would like to think. We profile today because generally speaking it works.
Look, you and I agree. The difference is you are an idealist with high expectations. I am a realist that has excepted the situation as it exists to day with hopes that people like you will improve on it in the future. I don't like it any more than you.

You'll notice, he asked for a link because he didn't believe it.
When provided the info, he resorted to another tactic instead of admitting that he was wrong. Discredit the source instead of considering the info.

The cops are looting? They're the ones who possess the facts right now. They won't release any info on the cituation.

Do you think the Boston Massacre was an egregious abuse of power by the British soldiers? No, the mob was assaulting the soldiers with rocks and other objects, and it is also suspected that the Sons of Liberty actually instigated the massacre. Go and read something, like the Boston Massacre Trials. Ironically enough, the British soldiers were defended by John Adams, one of the most logical patriots. LINK
You mean like the Chicago radicals who were causing shite tuesday night, and were involved with the cocktail and bottle throwing last night???

I know, I started off here on the Poli-board. I understand the attack the messenger style of debate. I also get the ignore style of debate that is common.
I don't get Redbone's style. He tends to be current, then go back four pages, then current, then back three. It's confusing.
I don't feel like looking further into these stats.
I do feel that police use deadly force too often.
Personal feeling, no links for that.

Jews and white people, but lets not deflect the thread in that direction
Yes it brings back racists tones spoken in 60's when civil rights was being fought over.
