Removing the Pastor from oversight would undermine that.
Oversight is good. Full, unfettered control is not.

I understand why you're saying this but it defeats the purpose of having Parish-run schools.
So that begs the question…
What is the benefit of parish run schools?
I would imagine funding is a big one.
But there are schools not connected to a parish. Houston had one.

Yep. And if it was an “important family” that had an issue, joke’s on them. That school won’t be around much longer. IIRC it almost didn’t open for the school year a few years back. Could be thinking of a different one, though.

You're certainly taking this personally.
How odd.

She was hired under one priest at the end of last year, who wanted to bring in someone from the outside. He passed away in July so when a new priest came in, there was a person who wanted the job who decided to get close to him (new priest).
Then the priest decides to suspend the new principal without a reason. Parents have a meeting with a group of parents in support of the new principal and bringing in new people so its not the same bullshite over and over.
Louisiana is an at will state so technically you can fire someone for no reason and this seems to be what is going on. Normally companies avoid firing people for no reason to avoid litigation. While it is an interesting situation, no one is surprised because its typical behavior for this school.

I honestly didn’t think this was a big story at first, but the more I’ve learned, the more I realize it really is. What’s happening here is just plain wrong and there’s a lot of shady stuff and power games going on that people deserve to know about.
Here’s the quick rundown:
• The former principal resigned or retired at the end of last school year — rumors say it was pushed by the priest at the time.
• That same priest hired a new principal in May 2025.
• The priest unexpectedly passed away in June 2025.
• A new priest arrived in August 2025.
• The new principal was placed on administrative leave on October 7, 2025.
Everyone around here knows the former principal and current assistant principal are controlling and power-hungry. Even after “retiring,” the former principal still shows up on campus almost every day, giving orders to teachers and students like she never left. She even became pissed when the new principal changed the locks on the school buildings.
This whole mess was stirred up by the former principal and the assistant principal. As soon as the new priest got here, they went straight to him to trash the new principal and turn him against her, and it worked. He refused to meet with her for weeks, and when he finally did, he brought someone from the diocese just to tell her he didn’t agree with her decisions. Keep in mind, school had only been in session for about a month at that point.
After that meeting, the priest:
• Put the former principal on the school’s financial board.
• Told the new principal she couldn’t meet with anyone unless the assistant principal was in the room.
• Said every decision had to go through the assistant principal.
He even told the new principal several times that he never would’ve hired her because she didn’t go to Catholic school growing up. Also- he never ONCE met with her one-on-one. Every single time someone else was in the room- the assistant principal, the former principal, or someone from the diocese.
Since the story hit social media, the priest has made things even worse by commenting on posts blaming parents and alumni for the school’s problems. He’s been publicly arguing with people who’ve supported the school for years.
It’s sad because the new principal never got a fair chance. The school was actually doing great! Enrollment is up, alumni were back involved, and the overall energy was the best it’s been in a long time. Now all the progress is being destroyed because a few people couldn’t let go of control, and the diocese sent in a combative priest to further divide the community.
The diocese says they’ll announce a “permanent interim principal” after Thanksgiving, but everyone expects it’ll be the former principal. If that happens, it’s only going to get uglier. There’s a long list of questionable stuff that went on during her time, and a lot of people are ready to start digging into it if she’s brought back.
Then yesterday the school had mass and the Bishop had to come and ask everyone to forgive the Priest. How weak does this look that the Bishop has to come in to ask people to forgive the “leader” of the school? Not a good look for the Diocese!

Wow. Such BS drama no one cares about. Take this to the Religion board. You have had your 15 min of OT time.

The Catholic Church as intended no longer exists.
I believe in the Catechism of the church.
I do not believe in the POLITICIANS who have run the church into the ground for decades. Power hungry child rapists with 80 IQ useful idiots in the pews ready to defend them,
Humility is a virtue that Priests are supposed to possess in abundance. Too many these days are arrogant, dictatorial bastards who either rape children or have enabled those who have. We need to allow Priests to marry again to get these charlatans out and rebuild Catholicism.
Ready to hear the low T eunuchs who supplicate themselves to pedorasts respond.

I've been loosely following this. It sounds like typical petty female drama.
Of everything you posted, this part is what gets me:
The fricking priest should be above arguing with people on Facebook. That is for the low-class people like us to do. If he is the head of the school he should know better than to argue with Karen and Betty on fricking Facebook

I knew it was nothing she did because she wouldn’t do anything illegal or immoral for herself or the school.
Shes not only was a principal in the public sector but also has the qualifications needed to be a superintendent as well

It sounds like she can do a lot better. Hopefully she can look back in a year or two from a higher paying job and realize what a massive bullet she dodged.

St John has weathered a lot thru the years. I remember when parents were sure MSA was gonna put them out of business.

The Assistant Principal sabotaged her. Not a good look. New Priest and assistant principal are toxic and evil people. A Priest! Who would ever think that. The diocese did nothing to help this new principal who did absolutely nothing but what was best for the kids. Sad life we live in nowadays.

This is THE problem right here. The parents aren’t “stakeholders”. They send their kids there to get an education, not so they all can have a say in how it’s run. That’s called entitlement. Schools can’t function when parents think they are entitled to be involved in operating the school.
Maybe your school sucks but our administrators literally ask for input from parents. They want parental involvement
