Looks like LA legislature blocking the move.

We have our own challenges in LA, but not sure TX education is really better.
NAEP scores are really the only national test that is taken in multiple states. TX has 31% proficient or advanced and LA has 29%.
TX has higher ACT 20.7 vs 19.5 in LA, but TX only tests about 45% of the kids. Louisiana's 19.5 is for 100% of kids.
Lots of other reasons to move to TX, but I wouldn't move for public schools.

Was the proposed location of the Baton Rouge zoo new location in St. George?
Yes, but I can't see much support for it being moved to SG.
The zoo thing really has nothing to do with SG, and everything to do with an out of control BREC.

We are talking about many of the ISDs around the Houston area including the Woodlands. Dallas area has really good schools as well. Yes, there are a lot of immigrants in rural area and that may bring the overall average down. Not to mention TX is a huge state.
Many folks from Louisiana move to TX and in particular the Houston area. Have you been to the schools in the Cy-Fair or Katy ISD's? They spend 4-5K less per student than EBR and get excellent results.

It's common to read on this board that Texas posters like their schools and those that relocated from La. report Texas public schools are better.

Why not? The zoo would be in st. g. and right next to ascension parish and close to the interstate. Any tax collected there would go to st. G, right? Or the parish? If it's st. G, then I'd say bring it on. Ascension parish and SEBR residents (and probably livingston residents as well) would go to it and spend money.

Has St. George released a fact of the day today?

I don't think the people that live close to that park want a zoo there.
I also am wondering if BREC is going to replace the park that would be "lost" if the zoo is built where the park is now.

I don't know of anyone in the St. George area that really cares where the zoo is moved to.
