Youre right, those kids don't look like my kids. The average ebr public school kid has a neck tattoo

So wait, in order to develop a new city, it's citizens will have to pay higher taxes than they did? Well no shite, starting a new city is like a dick.. It doesn't run itself (you know, like how a dick doesn't suck itself)... But yeah, you can't just start a new city and everything be perfect.

Are your public schools fine?

I like how you realized the analogy made no sense and just used it anyways.

Yeah it sounded good before I typed it and as I was typing it I was like "this doesn't really work the way I was thinking" but didn't feel like thinking of anything else...

Because it has nothing to do with the schools (that we already contributed to paying taxes for) are some of the worst in the country

I imagine all that is going to change. I know that buying a permit/occupational license in Central is a nightmare. As it is with surrounding parishes/localities.

NO.

Trash is parish - won't change
Water is parish - won't change
Police - maybe, or they may just use EBRSO

So your point is if some anecdotally refers to an area, then they are ok'd to incorporate? So if they called it South Baton Rouge City, you would be fine with it? Central was not incorporates similar to Zachary and Baker. I never understood the opposition to allowing this to go to a vote. In fact, the local legislatures who are opposed to this issue actually told the organizers to do just that. When they began the process, then they fought them all the way. Anyone declaring at this point that there will be higher or lower taxes has no real clue. Time will tell. Central has not raised taxes, Zachary and Baker did. The people opposed to it going to a vote have no clear message as to why it should not, other than racism. If staying in Baton Rouge is the better idea, it will win the day, if not, it will lose. But when given the chance, Baton Rouge chose not to incorporate the rest of South Baton Rouge, why?

No. Central was always a distinct and separate area of the parish. If you said,"I'm headed out to Central to my friend's house," everyone knew where you were going.

That's your argument?

This is the important question. Why did the Baton Rouge cronies never push for the St. George area to join the city? What value is there in a separate tax situation?

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds.

How much more will property taxes go up for ISD? Residents will still be paying state income tax, higher taxes, most likely higher property taxes and probably will still end up sending kids to private school.

If you said,"I'm headed out to Central to my friend's house," everyone knew where you were going. 5 years ago, if you would have said,"I'm going to St. George to get a burger," nobody would have known WTF you were talking about. The fire district was named St. George, after a small subdivision named Village St. George, but nobody out this way ever called it that. They lived in "Oak Hills" or "Shenandoah" or "White Oak Landing" or "Hickory Ridge".

Central was unincorporated just like StGeorge is now. Legally no different at all.

Sounds like your issue is with the name. Would it make you happy if they called it Shenandoah City since that is a name for the area you are already familiar with??

Bear in mind that if the ISD is established, the $$$$ paid in taxes for EBR would go there instead.
