Adam, could you elaborate?

I've followed the annexations closely and watched Holden and his people "recruit" these entities into the city. Broome followed suit with the latest desl across Difgen.

I was wondering what he was offering them.

Care to share?

If I would guess it is a pretty simple pitch. The dumpster fire you know is less dangerous than the dumpster fire you don't.

Thought I read somewhere that City cannot annex any property while the petition is going on. Is that right?

I noticed the big hospital by the Mall got interstate access. I found that strange. You? It seems kind of dangerous, but we shall see.

I believe the casino got better bus service too. It seems the buses started going out there regularly.

I'm just wondering what all the promises were. I thought you might know.

I thought it was the city could not annex any property in the proposed area collecting signatures to get on a ballet the chance to vote to become a city.

They could annex anything else they wanted especially Gardere if they wanted to since they are, so concerned about the proposed city not wanting them.

I think there should be a push for the city of BR to annex all the land from LSU to the casino including all the apartments coming up in that area. We also would need to include Gardere.

Well yeah. Because now they pay for CATS. They're just getting the service they pay for.

This is supposed to be shocking to us?

You don't have to be in the CATS taxing district to receive bus service, but I bet you knew that already.

TogetherBR helped us out here. They divided the parish to get enough votes to raise taxes by carving out a pro tax district specially created for CATS. TogetherBR dividing only when they see fit.

The city cannot annex land in the area proposed for incorporation. They can however annex land outside of the St. George boundaries.

If the city is created, they will get a school district. If the legislature think a 100,000 person city shouldn’t have its on school system it will make national headlines. Secondly, the library tax is a huge issue. Just because the people in the city will have to pay that regardless doesn’t mean light should not be shown on that huge giveaway.

Look at how flush that system is. It has renovated so many libraries while wevamt get a school built in the southeast portion of the parish. This shite is backwards. It just goes to show that the city/parish system is terrible and they keep fleecing the people actually paying into the system.

This is some half-assed conjecture.

First of all, it has nothing to do with the city. That was DOTD's decision. Secondly, the access was granted to the developer (Richard Carmouche) well before Ochnser had the intention to build there. The access point will serve the entire development (The Grove), which will consist of much more than Ochner.
