You mean the businesses that had their taxes increase by being annexed into the city?

That was their choice.

But this is a new take on y'alls narrative. I thought the city was giving them breaks and kickbacks.

Hey at least we got you to admit that voter ID laws don’t suppress the vote and instead those people are just lazy

Sure was. So why are you scared of letting the people of st George have their vote?

Why the need to annex land? Why the need to pull scare tactics? Why the need to outright lie?

I mean the better together yard signs are flat out lies. “Say no to the breakaway”

What breakaway? St George isn’t breaking away from the city of Baton Rouge.

How can you break away from something you aren’t a part of? Care to elaborate?

Because they asked to be.

BR did not "steal" them, SG tried to take them and they said no to that.

Lie about What? Most people I know think SG organizers are the ones lying.

And I can see why they think so. It's supposed to be about the schools, but not one school system plan has been presented.

Not even the original isd plan before being told you needed a city has been presented.

Was there ever a plan for the schools?

I've never made that claim.

And I'm confused what you're trying to argue on this point.

I laid it out pretty well. The sign say “say no to the breakaway” what breakaway? What is st George breaking Away from?

Uh whut? They got told they can’t form an ISD and they HAVE To incorporate first. Where tf have you been?

Uh... because it was presented way back when... and they got told no. You can’t do that. You have to incorporate. Which is where we are now.

To what? The website? Here LINK
quote:

The effort to bring about the city of St. George was born from the effort to create a local independent school district in the southeastern part of East Baton Rouge Parish. After two legislative attempts to create an independent school district were blocked at the state legislature a larger discussion was set in motion among grassroots citizens dissatisfied by the quality of governance from the Powers That Be in East Baton Rouge Parish, to particularly include the K-12 educational system.

Do your own research buddy.

No. Just two attempts to create an ISD similar to Zachary and central. But they were told no, you have to incorporate first.

Not sure how that doesn’t answer your question.

Imagine, a group of tax paying citizens in a city literally fighting another group of tax paying citizens because Group #1 doesn't want Group #2 to exercise their right to vote on the future of their own property? Mental illness is a hot topic these days for a reason.

I want to say this has happened before...

I agree they been using taxes from the unicorporated areas to floated the bloated city of BR govt.

Everyone seems to be like cows drinking from mommas tit which is the city parish govt and services are going down, roads are in bad shape, and lack of money for services govt should provide.
Feeding SWB, MOP, and Gravey not a needed service.

Why should anyone who not inside The city of Baton Screws pay for BRPD, BRFD, constable, and city court legacy cost.

Didn’t the city parish pay at attorney MOP money for her services to fly out to meet with the owners of the Mall of Louisiana? Didnt she said she did it for the good of BR and then came back to get money from the metro council for her services.

LINK

LINK

BRAC is on the city’s tit also as their funds are paid by the metro council. When have they done anything for unicorporated areas of this parish?

I love St George is racist while the city of BR bypasses Gardere and Tigerland now minority areas to annex the casino. They need sidewalks, BRPD police dept with all the crime, and bus service which being in the city would provide this.

Hey St George is racist for not putting them in the proposed city.
Isn’t BR doing the same thing or if you are liberal you can be racist bypassing bad areas while not being called racist?

Again, Hey St George is racist when BR does the same exact thing nothing is said.

If anyone trust the city of Baton Screws you got to be stupid.

Lets not forget that in the entire area proposed for St. George, there are 100K citizens and ::drum roll:: only ONE high school.

The epitome of shite planning on the part of everyone involved.

They really need to buy land for a high school, middle school, and atleast one Elementary school in the SW part of EBRP. SE EBRPand SW EBRP are fast growing parts of the parish and they need to plan for this growth which they do not care.

SG would facilitate a new ISD, not guarantee one.

And I know that a parish wide vote is necessary to form one.

I've always said that.

You are just trolling again.
You know SG initially had an outline for a school system, but that has to be changed as the city limits were revised.

You live in mud city yet you get in every SG thread and whine about SG folk.

You live in a city. Why can't we?

By some sort of accounting miracle the city is taxing them both more and less at the same time in an effort to screw over the St. George movement.
