In the 2002 lawsuit, the plaintiffs served the Council Administrator for the Metropolitan Council of the City/Parish. The attorney general was not served with a copy of the lawsuit and did not participate therein. The City/Parish answered the lawsuit and admitted that Section 1.05 of the Plan of Government was unconstitutional and violative of state law. On November 14, 2002, the trial court rendered judgment decreeing Section 1.05 of the Plan of Government to be unconstitutional and contrary to state law, and therefore, null and void. Starns v. Metropolitan Council of the Parish of East Baton Rouge and the City of Baton Rouge, Docket No. 500,675 (19th JDC 10/18/2002) (hereafter referred to as “Starns I?”).

utopia
Your impression of what "was sold" is different than the impression of the very large majority of people who voted for the incorporation. And, many of those people were volunteers who understand the struggle because they've been living it for years to make it happen.
It's small minded to think that you are the smart one because you didn't buy into this idea of "utopia" like everyone who supported it did.

I have to admit the balls of posting this.
right under a poster who has signature picture showing 54% to 46% and a difference of 2500 votes is rather impressive.

That's because you aren't keeping up.

Your statement is incorrect.

It was probably smart to not muddy the waters with funding requests prior to the vote.
While it would be nice to be well funded, I'm pretty happy that this effort isn't the product of a few wealthy individuals unlike the opposition. That tells me the effort is rooted in actually accomplishing its mission.

Where I come from that actually is trashy.
Maybe I'm confusing you with someone else. If so, I apologize.

Wrong again.
They have been soliciting funds for years now. They also hired a lawyer familiar with the applicable laws before they were sued.
Nothing has changed, they aren't all of a sudden broke. You are trying to make something out of nothing here.
This movement has gone on for six, or seven years. They finally got the vote they sought and won. Some may think the battle is over just because they won the election, but that's not the case. They still need support from those like myself who support SG.
The post was just a reminder of that.
But you can criticize all you want, that's your right; however, I suspect you were totally against SG and you are just trying to act like a know it all.

O need to. They will use everyone’s tax dollars. That’s why SG was voted in because the buffoons in BR don’t know how to manage money. This is a perfect example

True, but asking for donations is not exactly a ringing endorsement for a city thats been touted as being run as a business and will be efficient with tax dollars. The "business" knew this day was coming.

In any political election, this would be considered an overwhelming victory, but for some reason it doesn't apply here?

The "business" is not being allowed to operate at the moment.

Two points; there is no city or tax dollars going to the city of SG.
SG organizers have had the same solicitation request on their website for years. This is nothing new.

So should the mayor-president win again by the same margin she did last time? Can we sue because we don't like the outcome of the election?
BTW, she won with 51.8% of the vote and 4200 votes in a parish of 440,000 residents.
