I hope a licensed attorney did not give you this advice. La. CHC 1218.
Why would you hope that? They likely know what they are doing more so than you. It's not an inheritance. It's the settlement from a survival action.. Adopted children cannot participate in a survival action. And that's all assuming this is in Louisiana.
This is why you contact an attorney and don't get advice from a message board.

Dumb. This is a straight intestacy case governed by statute.
The case is settled, the money is there, just waiting. We just have to come to an agreement in how to split it. There are less costs involved as I did the paperwork, looked up witnesses, gather med records, etc.
Because of this, the lawyer took less of percentage and offered me a position helping him research cases such things.
The money is sitting there gaining interest. The lawyers duties are paid except turning over the money.

For this exact bull shite I made my Dad promise me to leave me completely out of that shite. Hey let's all cry at our Dads funeral then fight like savages over his shite. Trash just gonna trash.

Yall don't agree and it appears you never will. So, either the money sits or y'all get lawyers and duke it out. Or, divide the money with those who are legally entitled to it and be done with it. You can give away your take to those you feel are deserving of the distribution bothers you.

Divide it by 10. All wives and kids get an equal share.
Life is way to short and it's all family... regardless of how close everyone is.

Oh my, I saw you in the private school thread the other day discussing your kid being the heir to family land, etc. I assumed this meant millions of dollars and acres upon acres of land. If thats the case, stay out of it and let the family deal. Not worth it.
But if the reality is that you truly live on what amounts to many peoples hunting camps, and you are arguing over money in your late father's possible future settlements, then I'd rather not think much further into the kind of family BS that comes into splitting money between kids of somekne who had THREE WIVES! What a headache. But my one comment is that every kid that is your dad's offspring is just as important to him as the other. Doesn't make a shite who came first. None of you are more important and deserve more (in my opinion).

shite like this went down in between my Mom and her brothers and sister. What a cluster frick. I flat out told my mom I wanted no part of it. It took over 25 years for them to agree on what was what.
After my mom passed, my brothers and sisters agreed to what was what after seeing what happen to our mom.
Now, I already gave everything to my two kids besides my house and money that will go to my wife 100%. After that, the kids will split per my living will.

Hey now... Monaco is only 499 acres and they have a crown prince.

She said she is creating a private school for the crown princess and 4-5 other kids. Who the hell is going to send their kids there? Also, how will they ever find the school in the middle of 100 acres?
Posted on 8/11/15 at 7:35 am to terd ferguson
Yes, but how many tractors do they have in Monaco. I'm sure it's more than 2.

But how many sheds does Monaco have?
