I know it's all relative to how much and how hard you work. I know the good ones make a lot but on average what's your normal, everyday realtor make? Do they have to become certified? Pass any tests? Seems like easy money.

The requirements for a real estate broker license in Louisiana include having a high school diploma or GED, and having been actively licensed in any state for at least two years as a real estate salesperson. The applicant must successfully complete 150 approved classroom hours or the equivalent.

I would assume based on the amount that flame out the number would be relatively low. Probably in the 20,000 area. Seems most do well or at least according to FB they seem to do well.

I had a friend get into it and didn't sell a house for 3 months he had to quit because his savings was being depleted.

I'm not a realtor FYI. Was one 15 years ago for the purpose of investing in REO properties.

The ones that are successful work pretty hard and hustle. I know most on here think they are useless but in my last home purchase the seller was a total pain in the arse and my realtor shielded us from all of that and we had no idea until we closed and he told us all the stories.

It can be feast or famine though. When the market is hot They can make money hand over fist of they hustle but when things slow down they can struggle.

I love when I meet agents and they only want to list homes since it's "less work."

Really? Thanks for NOT trying to at least make a difference and counsel home buyers, help them understand and do something good when they are able to buy.

payscale.com says average of $49,430 per year with the range between $20,589 to $152,688.

Not sure if the stats are for both residential and commercial as the average reported number seems high to me (for your typical residential agent).

What a great opinion you have... but, I'm pretty sure 90% of all millionaires disagree with you.

Average realtors make between 40k - 250k a year. Obviously depends on many factors.

Most realtors don't make it more than 2-3 years. You need a bit of a nest egg before you start, and you can often times make $10,000+ in a month and then nothing for 2-3 months.

Many cannot manage money well enough to live like this, and therefore they fizzle.

It is a slow build up, but once you can get a snowball rolling it can grow pretty fast.

Not the life for everyone. If you are not self driven and money motivated --- your screwed. There is no boss breathing down your neck to make you work, which -- most of this country sadly needs.
