Leased a small Nissan truck back in the late ‘90s for $69/month. They had a massive surplus and couldn’t get rid of them. Right after I leased mine, they dropped them to $29/mo.

$1950 for an 87 Ford Ranger.
The great part is they let me finance it for 108 months.

Not me, but my brother bought an old beat up Ford escort from our mom’s boss for 50 bucks.
It was a glorified go cart. He drove it for two years through high school and one day it broke down near a junkyard. He got $300 bucks for it and called me to come give him a ride home.

I bought a new Chevy Vega in 1974 for $3,200.00. I think it was the cheapest new car that you could buy then. Stick shift, no AC, AM radio.

50 bucks for a 14 year old, rusted out Ford Taurus. Nothing in the interior worked, gauges, radio, HVAC, nothing. It ran, it drove, it stopped. Ran it about a year. Sold it for scrap a few years later, think I got damn near 300 bucks.

Paid $50 for a ‘76 Pontiac Sunbird. Lady’s husband passed away and the car sat for years in her garage. She just wanted it gone.
Also paid $500 for a ‘67 Chevy 2 Nova sedan. Was a neighbor to my Grandparents and they also just wanted it gone. Regret selling that car years later.

$6,500, I remember it well. 94 model Toyota 4x4 extended cab. Was it a Hilux, or was it a Tacoma? Only Toyota will ever know. All I know is I love those trucks. Yes I carried a note on it. $90/month.
That truck taught me a lot. Mainly how to work on cars. Cut my mechanic’s teeth on that thing. Unfortunately that knowledge is worthless on modern vehicles.

Extremely used '87 Isuzu pup for $900. It squeaked so bad that bystanders would laugh.

Paid $300 for a 66 Impala. It had AM radio, a hole in the driver's seat with 2 towels stuffed in it, a huge steering wheel with the horn missing-just a wire sticking out that you did not want to touch. It also had a bad leaky radiator that ran out of fluid every 10 miles so we kept jugs of water in the trunk for that reason. I was a senior in high school and we were not OT ballers so did what I could. Sold it 3 years later for, no kidding, tree fiddy. (It had a killer 327 in it)

Bought a 74 Impala for $400 in the late 80's. It was a big, long boat of a car but with a 350 engine it would stroll pretty good top end.

$400 for a 1979 Volvo coupe, but I had to drop in a used Volvo engine for $1000. Drove it for about 4 years. Sold it for $550.

Those MGs were eye candy but tough to live with.
I gave $500 for a ‘76 F-100 in 1990, it was a “farm” truck for me.
