Clean cedar shakes
Posted by Dandanthegreatest on 2/21/25 at 11:04 am
What would be recommended to clean my cedar shakes house and not damage the plants or soil in my garden? I know bleach is recommended, but I am concerned my flower beds will be damaged. Thanks.

re: any baws do their own duct cleaning?
Posted by Dandanthegreatest on 8/7/24 at 11:51 am to CAD703X
It depends on a few things. Do you have flex or rigid ducts? Have you done any major construction with lots of dust lately? Do you have floor or ceiling registers? How often do you change your filter?
If you have flex ducts with ceiling registers and you change your filter often, then you will be wasting money.

re: With so many kids in private, should system be flush with $?
Posted by Dandanthegreatest on 12/5/21 at 7:44 pm to Godzilla
Another issue with funding per student is they are too top heavy school systems. A ton of money is eaten up by over priced/valued superintendents, assistant superintendents, directors, coordinators, etc….None of them directly impact any students, and eat up a good amount of the budget.

One would assume that the public schools are getting more money with less students. But in fact, public schools receive funding according to the number of students that are enrolled in the system on October 1st. The reason most private schools perform better is because of parent involvement. Those parents give a frick and put their children in a better environment. I teach in the public schools and put my all of my kids in private or charter schools.

I agree, but he still will never win a championship at USC either.

Going to USC seems like a cop out to try and keep getting beat by SEC teams in the playoffs
re: Coaching blunder- not putting nuss in against alabama

The real blunder is not knowing he wants to burn his red shirt opportunity this year to play. That’s a conversation that should have already taken place before his dads call last night.
Neighbors tree fell into my yard and hit my house
Posted by Dandanthegreatest on 9/6/21 at 8:31 pm
During the storm, my neighbors tree fell into my yard and hit my house. A branch from the tree, punctured the roof through the plywood and into the attic. My insurance deductible would not be met with the damage that was incurred. The owner of the house next door does not occupy the house. The house is his owned by him and his sister. Nobody has occupied the house since Katrina and the back yard is always a wreck. What is my best option to not having to shell out for the repairs and having his insurance fork out the money?

re: Spin off topic - What is the lowest amount you have paid for a car?
Posted by Dandanthegreatest on 7/3/21 at 12:01 am to Ramblin Wreck
Paid $50 for a ‘76 Pontiac Sunbird. Lady’s husband passed away and the car sat for years in her garage. She just wanted it gone.
Also paid $500 for a ‘67 Chevy 2 Nova sedan. Was a neighbor to my Grandparents and they also just wanted it gone. Regret selling that car years later.

Before leaving for vacation, they were fine. When we got back, they were chewed up. Help please.
Update: Found a bunch of snail-like shells on the bottom of the pads and on the stems. Also found two or three China Mark moths.

Had it done not to long ago to my raised home. Think the rate was $1k-$1800 per pier, depending on what type of piling they push under the pier. The more expensive, the longer the warranty against settling.
