Looks like a beast. Would be fun to have to opportunity to shoot this thing.

US special-operations snipers will soon be receiving the new sniper rifle that everyone in the military wants to get their hands on.

Barrett Firearms Manufacturing has received an initial production order for the new Mk 22 Multi-Role Adaptive Design (MRAD) sniper rifle from US Special Operations Command, the company announced Friday, as Task & Purpose first reported.

Barrett reports that its rifle has met the requirements of the Department of Defense and has completed production qualification testing and operational testing.

I've always wondered what could go into a rifle to justify >$15k price tags, but dammit that is a sick piece of hardware. Would love to see the ballistics on the .338 NM

That's no joke. I'm looking into a hunting rifle, and the optics that are out there are absolutely ridiculous

Nah. See how they replaced the menacing black look with the warm and inviting metallic color?

What makes the MRAD different from other rifles is that it can be chambered in 7.62 x 51 mm NATO, .300 Norma Magnum, and .338 Norma Magnum ammunition, each of which has a different purpose on the battlefield.

What’s the purpose of this? The scopes not going to be on right? So aren’t they still going to have to sight it back in? I’ve never understood this really?

Im not well versed on sniper warfare but I imagine they would have three different sights tuned for the 3 different ammo types

instead of having 3 guns, sniper can have one and outfit it according to mission

it's not meant to interchange on the field

With glass that is easy to do. My son is in the industry and sells multiple $15k packages a week to guys in the DFW area.

People like being able to say they can hit steel at 1 or 2 miles, never mind 80% is the platform not the shooter now a days.

This is why they had to get rid of Trump.

Just in time for Biden to start some wars.

Eh, all your equipment loadout is always going to be mission specific so this isn't a big deal. Yes, you'll have to re-zero every time you switch barrels, but I'm sure these guys confirm zero all the time anyway.
