don’t understand a portion of you people. You complain about Louisiana’s brain drain due to poor economy. Louisiana finally gets a big economic boost by way of Space X and yet here you are again complaining. What exactly is a win for these types of people? It’s seriously sad. This is one of the biggest positive stories to come out of Louisiana perhaps ever and so many people want to bitch and moan about it. Man Louisiana sure has some of the best people in the world and some of the worst people in the world all jumbled together.
People are retarded and to be ignored.

I'm excited for you coonasses.
This is going to be huge for the state of Louisiana. You're going to become the launch capital of the world, far eclipsing Kennedy and Cape Canaveral combined.

Of course they will. Cities tend to popukate where 1000s of workers are needed

I’d think they would be using barges for a lot of the materials.

100%, if this project happened ~4 years ago when they still were cupping Elon's balls and JBE had made this happen they'd have been all aboard.

This really is a great development for Louisiana and I hope that everything that is planned comes to fruition. It adds a whole new industry to Louisiana (yes Im aware of Michoud, but this is different) and attract new talent to the state. I've left Louisiana and don't really plan to return, but I'll be damned if this news didn't make me consider moving back and finding employment with SpaceX.
Given LSU is one of only 24 Land Sea and Space grant schools, I'm curious to see if the Space grants and programs start receiving even more of a boost.

I have made a very consistent observation. I've clicked on a sampling of Facebook critics of this project. Without fail, their FB profile has like 5 pictures total. Usually a picture or 2 of them by themselves and then 3 pictures of a cat. It is so consistent it is mind boggling and certainly plays right into the stereotypes.

so LSU offers a degree program in mechanical engineering that allows you to get a minor in aerospace with 6 extra classes, minor in nuclear with 5 extra classes and a minor in math with 1 extra class.
They should be promoting the shite out of it and using it to recruit the best in state and out of state and should be setting up Co-Ops with Space X, Nasa and the LNG plants and nuclear plants. They do some of that already but they should be hammering them.
McNeese and ULL need to follow suite and offer the same. They have good engineering programs and all three should be stepping up their game.
LSU should be trying to make it world class, GA Tech level and pumping money into it. Hell higher someone from there to show you how it can be improved or MIT or something similar to show you how to create a lasting effect from this.
McNeese should be promoting the frick out of them being one of the best ROI engineering programs in the country. They were number 1 a couple years back and were top 5 most of the 2010s in terms of ROI. They just created the LNG Center of Excellence.
LSU needs to build an LNG Center of Excellence and Space X center of excellence.
Gov Landry should be pushing this too.
If done right, this is an absolute game changer for all 3 universities. But if not done correctly the once in a generation opportunity could be squandered easily.
All three should be investing big time into the MBA program too, especially LSU. higher someone from Penn Wharton to come show you or from the best large publics in terms of business schools.
and LSU should really really start upping the test scores needed to get in big time. Target top in state students and then top out of state students that come from top 10% households and for the love of god....start promoting greek life. look how much that and athletics have helped advance other SEC universities.
and the gov needs to play a role in this by stationing NG throughout the city but really around LSU. make it safe AF so the families with money feel comfortable sending their kid there.
also need major investment at Sowela (already thriving) and South LA Community College and another in BR
need to expand all the programs at Sowela that could be placed in at SpaceX and create a spin off of the air maintenance program to include space maintenance.

i observed its 1 of 3 people
1) hardcore democrat that cries over every single thing built here
2) single women that is completely uneducated and has zero skin in the game. bitches because it doesnt help her
3) men that are uneducated and are pissed it could hurt their fishing/hunting spot and "ruin a way of life" as if that fricking way of life didnt have us ranked last in everything,

There’s a chance that their profile is private, so you’re limited in what you can see on there if you’re not friends with them.

In addition to the aerospace engineering degrees, LSU and Tulane need to start an aerospace medicine program. Elon wants to colonize other planets. We gotta learn how long term space travel and different gravities effect the human body.

if anyone is involved with any dredging companies, they are about to make bank. From what I understand, there is going to need to be a massive amount of dredging for this project starting like now

Damn he went at ‘em
It’s true though. Anyone attempting to fight this is either very low IQ or a raging liberal who will fighting literally anything Elon/Landry/Trump accomplishes.
I love crabbing as much as the next guy but it’ll be fine. I think it’ll be fricking awesome to sit on the weirs, catching crabs, reds, and watching rockets launch.
Look, JBE was a damn buffoon, but I think majority of us would still be applauding him if he and done something of this magnitude.

agreed, should be an applied masters program in NOLA and should prolly be a joint school between LSU and Tulane in conjunction with Space X as the first of its kind in the world. Build the facilities to be hands on and simulating the environment as part of R&D for both universities
also...
need to go directly to Elon and the LNG/O&G and set up the business/finance school degrees the same way. Both LSU and Tulane can really really set up their business schools with this and to a lesser degree McNeese and ULL could too.
Like I said this project could literally change the state forever if you piggy back off of it and use it to really push the universities in the state
tulane could be a top 30 similar in prestige to how it was in the late 90s.
LSU could get into the top 75 for sure and even rival florida up to the top 50 and top 20 public schools to eventually within 15-20 years.
could get ULL into top 150 and McNeese up to about where LSU is right now within that time frame. Obviously McNeese wont be as big but you could change both of those schools with even greater focus on engineering and the business of O&G and Space with focuses on AI.
big if though and will take Landry and at least the next gov to make this happen. but it can be done with proper vision and leadership

There is no win. This state is in perpetual victim hood.

We will keep our current industry nail salons, dollar generals, and mexican restaurants and watch our kids and grandkids move away for better above poverty paying jobs.....
