It actually is believe it or not. I was honestly surprised when I saw the latest education rankings.

We have just been so used to being ranked last on all of these dumb things that we stopped paying attention.

I’ll be the first to admit Landry has changed my opinion on him I was pretty low on him after the Omar Bradley fat tiger fiasco.

Curious what happens to areas like Maurice being near to Lafayette with good schools, but also within driving distance to the launch area

All schools in Maurice are at capacity and the new Charter is taking away a lot of kids. Square footage of butler buildings is probably bigger than the actual schools

There were a few schools that were thought to close in the parish. Indian Bayou, Eaton Park, 7th Ward, etc

I wonder if that changes with a possible influx of families

Maurice is one of the fastest growing towns in that area for people looking to stay in the vicinity of Lafayette and avoid the traffic. I think it's going to grow even more now especially since that 167 stretch to Abbeville has a lot of potential to build industrial businesses like they did in Broussard along Highway 90.

Any area south of the Acadiana Mall is now in play to see some real growth.

I’ve been predicting this for 15+ years now. Lots and lots of land. Almost all residential and farm land, though

167 could be just like HWY90, but it won’t be for O&G.

I dont see IB going anywhere, awesome school. The others I cant speak for. Ive heard of several kids going to the charter school just to return to NVMS.

It will be interesting to see what the area looks like in 10 years

Indian Bayou is pretty close to Meaux

But Meaux is at capacity

The school board needs to redraw the maps, but no one on the board wants to lose an election, so it won’t happen

Abbeville schools are under capacity

Abbeville schools are under capacity because people are sending their kids elsewhere?

Every town in Vermilion parish is currently losing population, outside of Maurice. Also, if you’re white, middle class+, and you live in Abbeville you send your kids to VC.
