Back in the ‘80s I caught an ameiva lizard in Puerto Rico on my senior cruise and smuggled it back home on the cruise ship then the flight from Miami…does that count?

Rocks.

Some really weathered to eventually build a shower floor from scores of places.

Love to bring a bit of the locally purchased weed I get from different places. Contrary to my once popular belief, the weed in Jamaica wasn't all that. Not with the shite I can get here these days.

I used to get coffee cups from the places I would visit. Had about 8-10 from different countries but most would not hold up to the dishwasher. I have two that are about twenty years old that lasted and I use every week. One from Holland and one from Malaysia.

Christmas ornaments

Same. We get a Christmas ornament from each place we visit.

I’ll pick up a cool rock or shell if I find one. I’ve got some bleached coral from the Bahamas that washed up on the beach, a rock from the Alps, pumice from a volcano in Pompeii, and a cool looking rock from the great salt lake among others.

We have a tree dedicated to our vacations. It’s the “travel tree”. We usually bring 3-4 back from each trip. It’s fun to put up and that’s the tree we put all our friend’s and extended family’s gifts under. Traditional tree for our’s.

The vast majority of places I have nothing.
I used to bring stuff back, not so much anymore, and mostly consumables for myself anyway, local cigars, booze, coffee, etc.
I do have some artwork from India, I like the idea of art from other places, and stickers for the beer fridge.
I rely on memories and old passports, but seems few countries use passport stamps anymore, which is somewhat disappointing.

Ornament for the Christmas tree has been our go to for the last decade or so. Always fun reminiscing about the trips while decorating the tree, especially as the kids get older.

When I cleaned house several years ago to de-clutter, I tossed almost every souvenir I had. Once I looked at them for a few minutes and recalled how I acquired the thing, that was good enough for me. My kids don’t want piles of stuff that doesn’t mean anything to them.

Carved wooden or stone animals that are native to the country and carved by locals.

Currency of the country if it has something interesting on it like an animal or landmark that the country is known for. There is a pretty good collection on my fridge now.

A few native made masks, the real thing. Not some made in China crap.
