I've only had good experiences on SWA and all but one (queer, obviously) on the old NWA regional codeshare. Delta was good after the fact too. I used to get a ton of free flights/upgrades with them due to service issues.

In fairness, they spend their days herding cats and 50% of those cats either have never flown or act like it. A big chunk of the rest act like the rules only apply to other people. I honestly can't remember when I had a rude attendant, maybe a little curt at times but nothing that bothered me, other passengers are a different story. That 26" spinner you snuck past everyone ain't gonna fit baw.

George Carlin about flying. 30 years later it's still resonating with people because not much has changed. Would've loved a followup set 5 years ago covering the lower class airlines, passenger behavior from checking bags to [maybe] picking them up right after the flight, and the ever lowering of physical standards for the stewardesses. I feel bad for those in their early 30s who just missed out while he was on a roll. (He went to a really dark place after 9-11...I saw him less than 2 months later and it was obvious that it was time to put him out to pasture.)
