On the railroad the local chairman would throw his hands up and say "I don't want to hear it!" if someone brought up the blu flu around him.

The RLA makes strikes and other job actions difficult to enact for transportation unions.

More unforseen "crew issues." Maybe a little weather too?

Illegal job actions sanctioned or not by the unions will get the hammer coming down hard on labor by the Feds. Just ask American Airlines pilots.
LINK

With regards to labor vs. management, there hasn't been a level playing field for decades as no administration would ever allow a strike to happen. Just so happens that's the most effective tool for labor.

Yeah, but it took several years of people getting those vaccines to reach their effectiveness. You only mentioned polio, but there are breakthrough measles cases from time to time, and the MMR vaccine is required in every state.

I flew bAck to BR from Louisville today. First leg of the flight was delayed about an hour and a half but still made my connecting flight in Charlotte. We almost booked southwest. Kinda glad we didn’t now

SWA pilots are pissed about the shot mandates. Even those who took the shot are feeling a bit under the weather. It’s a massive sick out.

Pilots union has said they are unaware of any protests at this time, but that they are ok with employees showing disapproval of the mandate.

As a union member, I can tell you they would never admit to any sort of an organized sick out. But will always support their members in majority under legal decisions within their contract.

If you heard there was a sick out, there probably was, but it didn’t come from the union, I promise you that.

If we have to destroy the economy save even one person from a mild cough then we need to do it.

Anyone having issues with SW today? I have a flight to Albany, NY tomorrow connections in Baltimore. It shows on time but I don’t trust them or the FAA.

You shouldn't trust them at the moment. Another 400 flights cancelled and another 700-800 delayed (for now)

They've canceled 300+ flights today so far, bringing them to over 2100 since Friday evening.

This weather event has to have a name by now.

People can read this to get a better understanding.
Railway Labor Act

To simplify, railroads and airline unions are under the RLA. They have a process which includes mediation before any stop work action can take place. The unions are in violation of the RLA if they support unsanctioned work actions.

I have a flight out of Vegas to New Orleans that has been delayed about an hour and a half as of now.

Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. My buddy already had his cancelled.
