Sound proofing a bedroom to keep outdoor sounds out

Going to be renovating a bedroom soon and while I'm tearing it apart & re-insulating the walls, I may as well try to sound proof it due to the road noise from the highway in front of the house.
The house is over 40 years old so I'm sure the wall insulation has broken down a bit over the years and it could use a re-insulation installation. Will new insulation be sufficient or should I re insulate the walls and add soundboard behind the sheetrock as well?

Good choice on the sound proofing.

Use something called Homasote. Not overly expensive, easy to use, works great.

Mineral wool sound insulation and 5/8" sheetrock. There are more efficient ways to sound proof, but this is the easiest.

Wouldn't it be easier to just move your trailer back further from the highway?

There is a sound proofing insulation. Really don't know the R value. I have it install in the enter walls of my bedroom. Did that when I built my house due to having young kids and working shift hours.
