It's fun to see kids excited but isn't worth going once they pass 5 years old.

Dollywood for the win. They actually have legit rides. Disney world sucks balls.

But the novel was unnecessary.

Dollywood has legit fricking rides.

Not as Nazi-like in its cleanliness and efficiency as WDW, but a pleasant experience.

The OP sounds like the unhappiest patron ever. I have been lots of times and I can see how it is not for everyone. However, by that description he was probably flying by the seat of his pants. Especially all the waiting in line part. It takes 10 minutes of research to avoid that.

Dump someone unprepared almost anywhere and it will be a roll of the dice as to whether or not they get the most out of it. Blindly going to Mardi Gras might compare.

My wife's family are Disney freaks. Literally they get giddy when they talk about Disney and makes me question what the frick I was thinking marrying into that. My sister in law works at Disney and my wife and her family probably go twice a year if not more. I have told them since day one that I will not set foot in Orlando, FL unless someone is paying me. Personally I don't want to pay over a grand just to be pissed off everyday that I would be there so I stay at home. The only saving grace is they usually go during turkey and deer season so I take those weeks off work and hunt for as long as I want to. I thank God everyday that I have a son and don't have to put up with the Disney princess shite.

Some tips--you can bring food in to the park. Pick up a couple of Publix subs on the way to the park if staying off site for lunch. If staying on site (Polynesian, Floridian), go back to the room for lunch.

Or just do like you would at a ballgame/movie theatre, and realize that you are a captive audience, and pay for whatever you want.

My father in law has a IPhone cover with fricking Mickey Mouse ears. I have come to despise the place because of them

Wife and I went (no kids). Loved it and would go back.

If you don't like overpriced stores.... don't buy anything! Amazing idea of showing self-restraint.

The food is over-priced, but welcome to literally every tourist area in the United States.

The parks are clean and efficient. There is a ton of stuff to do (Hollywood Studios is getting a huge facelift soon and Animal Kingdom is being added onto as we speak). The experience is really one of a kind. If you don't like roller coasters.... yeah probably not for you. I just don't understand how people seem to act like it is an affront to humanity if they don't personally like it though.

I was really shocked when I went years ago. The majority of the rides are actually fast and pretty scary.

You must be angry.

I love Disney. Loved it pre kids and then after bringing my 2 year old and seeing the excitement and magic through his eyes made it probably 10 times more magical for me.
