On June 4, 2004, Granby, Colorado muffler-shop owner Marvin Heemeyer drove a heavily armored bulldozer through town, destroying buildings connected to local government and business interests before taking his own life when the machine became trapped. The rampage stemmed from years of disputes over zoning, property access, permits, and the approval of a concrete plant near his business. Heemeyer faced an entrenched network of influential local figures who consistently prevailed in conflicts with him, leaving him feeling powerless and unheard. The aftermath caused millions in damage and sparked an enduring debate about government overreach, local politics, and individual frustration.

I visited Granby a couple years ago while staying in Tabernash. It's a neat little mountain town.

Heemeyer was an entitled nutjob who thought everyone owed him.

Even if you believe this, he's the nutjob for all Americans.

Thats just anti-Marv propaganda… The good ole boys club that screwed him in life controls the narrative today…

Nutjob, can't argue that. Entitled, maybe. Thought everyone owed him, the town did. They won and control the narrative because he's a nut job and can no longer fight back. But that day.

Listen to the reporting in that video and it's hard to believe it was just 20 years ago.

They mention a machine gun, and someone's says there's absolutely no truth to that.

They mention a name, and they jump on that and say he hasn't been identified yet so they shouldn't name names.

How far has news coverage fallen.

Ah yes, the annual thread where everybody worships a total piece of shite human being that put lots of people in harm's way instead of the actual ones responsible (who were also pieces of shite, of course).

I don't ever get the obsession with this board for such a raging a-hole. Sure, "average American stands up against tyrannical government" sounds cool on paper, but this dude was a crazy piece of shite who went off the deep end who wanted to wreak havoc on the public, and ended up being a total coward anyway.

This is a story where most people involved should be hated. Yet the OT sicks this dude's duck like he's a god. It's weird.

Typical small town Colorado bullshite where the majority land owners also hold top positions in government.

It's not hard to understand why people make memes about the killdozer

I agree with you on putting innocent people in harm's way, but have you ever watched the documentary?

If you have, and the bullshite doesn't make your blood boil against the whole town and government, then you are a better man than I am.

It's the same reasons the Bricks and Minifigs thing is currently big news on the internet. Small-town corruption protects a local business because of relationships.

People will almost always side with those they see as the little man wronged in the situation, fighting for justice. Been that way since we threw the Brits tea into the harbor, I guess.

Yes. Like I said, his local government officials were pieces of shite too. But that doesn't excuse what he did, not even remotely.

Sure. But again, that's not what he was doing. He was a menace to the public and was shooting at people out of his dozer. Shooting at cops who had nothing to do with his situation. Putting people in harm's way through no fault of their own. He tried to shoot at a giant propane tank to make it explode. He was shooting near a school, IIRC from the documentary. Crushing and destroying peoples' property (i.e. cars and shite...I know one of the places he drove to was his rival, so that part at least makes sense).

We should all push back on intrusive government. It's a shame 50% of our populations loves and wants more government in their lives.

Yeah, I am not excusing those actions, but in his mind, it was him vs the whole town because the whole town backed the cement plant.

That aside, in the simplest form as the internet sees it, it is the little man vs. evil, corrupt government, and that is why the Killdozer is a meme.

I think you can despise Marvin's actions towards innocent people and still sympathise with him overall in some form, which is another reason for the killdozer to be spoken about the way it is

All places he targeted were rivals
The concrete company
Town hall
The gas company
The Thompsons shop and house
Newspaper office
The Gamble’s store
