Someone sexually assaulted a pregnant horse

TOWN OF LEBANON — A horse may have been sexually assaulted in Waupaca County, Maine and authorities are looking for information.
The owner said his horses were acting as if they had been spooked, so he went out to investigate. He then found one of them, a pregnant five-year-old mare, injured and bleeding.
A veterinarian who was called to the scene determined the horse had been sexually assaulted.
The owner of the horses says the animals were acting normally late Saturday afternoon, so the assault likely happened late Saturday night or early Saturday morning. Both the mare and its foal are expected to survive.
Sheriff's officials say they have contacted a person who has a history of sexually assaulting horses, but no one has been arrested.
