one text or phone call to that guy should have told that homeowner everything they needed to know.

But he saved a pile of money!

this right here, I know this is a small beans project but the general contractor is ultimately responsible for the job

well he may have a point if he wasn't the contractor hired to do the concrete finishing and forming.

He clearly acted as the GC either way.

This part is obvious. He said he contracted out the labor.

I was more asking what the homeowner signed.

it isn't even about that. getting people out to do jobs is almost impossible

if you get a real GC, they won't come for a small job like that. too much real work to go around

No. He’s acting as a general contractor (or trying to) so he’s 100% on the hook for the work of his subs.

No he doesn't. He sent that crew that is a sub of his. Whether the homeowner pays them directly or not, the fact that he bid the job, bought material and accepted some money shows he was acting as the GC

nah, contractor is responsible for his subs, doubt this "contractor" will be in bidness very long, might end up having some leg/knee issues as well

Whoever gets stuck representing that guy is going to want to punch themselves in the face. I can hear the conversations now. He's going to know everything

I think the homeowner should also have a conversation with the pooch that was supervising the work.

I don't think he was acting as the GC, based on the language in his texts he flat out admits he was the GC He says it was contracted out a number of times

Ok, why do you think they paid him for the concrete then?

Did they have to go across the neighbor's yard to pour that concrete?

The video I saw that the homeowner posted showed them using a concrete buggy to move the concrete.
