Somebody explain "recruiting guy" to me.

Recruiting guy is truly the oddest subspecies of sports fan. I try to read the Recruiting Board and, while there is a lot of interesting information passed around, I can't help but ask what kind of personal lives these people must have.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Obsession with 17 year old boys is odd, I do agree.

White new balances, cargo shorts below the knee, wal-Mart purple LSU T-shirt, pipefitter with GED and a barbwire tattoo

I follow it a little bit. Not like those guys though. It's essentially the same as following the NFL draft for CFB.

It’s mostly the younger fans. They are in college and have tons of time on there hands.
Plus they haven’t invested a ton of time in a recruiting cycle only to have the kids flip flop 7 times and end up elsewhere.
Eventually you learn that it’s better to just watch recruiting from a distance and not get to worked up about it.

I’ve never understood it. On signing day, I’ll take a look at who LSU signed and how they compared to other schools but that’s about it as a fan.
I’ve never understood the guys that follow the whole process even going as far as friending these kids and sending them messages on social media esp the loser who sends negative messages if they don’t pick the fan’s school. The latter should be arrested. These are high school kids. lol.

Imagine being the creeper, who runs these sites and texts/calls/emails 16,17 year olds daily.
I always love when guys like Gabe from Power Mizzou condone their practices. They are the super creepers of CFB

I actually mentioned this point on the MSB minutes ago. These types are losers who likely couldn’t hack it to be even a half-decent high school athlete, much less an opportunity to choose which college to play for. These dudes are scum, to be honest.

Guy with an obsession of big teenage boys. Very similar to Catholic priests

There's an even weirder subspecies within that group who seem to care more about recruiting than the actual games. The recruiting "wish lists" posters have as their sigs is one of the weirder things on this site

Well, I cannot speak for all, but some of these guys may have some background in coaching and training athletes. I can tell you that there is very little as rewarding as training a kid and seeing him expereince the fruits of their labor by getting to play at the next level.

There is a horde of that group on the SECR.
*Team gets their arse kicked in a game
"Ha, but we just flipped DeQuan Smith from you guys!'

not even remotely close. Recruiting is the life blood of any program. You know all those guys you cheer for on Saturdays? Each one of them was once a HS recruit just a few years ago. It's fun to check out the big name guys and see if they're coming to your school, I don't see anything wrong with that. The people who take it too far (just like with anyoen taking anything too far) are another story though. I'm talking about the 50 year old men tweeting at Hs kids and doing things like that, tha'ts a bit odd.
But there are far worse subspecies of sports fans. The "keep my season stats on a spreadsheet" slowpitch adult softball player, for starters. Or the grown men over HS age that paint their face.
