I like to check out the potential and tape of LSU’s recruits, but yeah, some of the people there are waaayyyyy too into it.

No different than people following a clubs minor league baseball system. It is the talent that feeds your team. Why not take interest in it?

Recruiting “writers” are total creeps.
Not good enough to be real journalists so they hang around 17/18 yrs kids and hang on their every word or social media post.

Some people really like HS football, and follow recruiting so when a big time recruit is playing in your area you can go watch them play. It's the equivalent of seeing a new opening act before they become a big time musician or band.

This is different than people doing the same thing for 18/19 year olds that play in college....how?

How is that?
As for as "recruiting guy", I don't get it at all.
Look I am a big college football fan and I look to see who commits to what schools, but I am not putting any stock into a 16 year old kid verbally committing to a college, when he is a junior in HS and I sure as hell will not get pissed if the kid decides later on he wants to go somewhere else.
Then there are those who get pissed at these recruits, if they commit to an out of state school. In general, I just hope these kids take the opportunity and make the best out of it, but following these kids all year long and keeping up with everything they are doing just comes off creepy.

Is actual adults who are on your team with some sort of contract.
Not the same as following some kid hoping he commits to your program and tweeting at him.

Obsession with 17 year old boys is odd, I do agree.
I don't follow recruiting until someone signs on signing day or maybe a few days before that. But, I can see how some people follow a 5-Star recruit a couple months or even a year before signing day that is undecided between LSU-BAMA.
What it means to me is, if we get this kid, our football team will be awesome in that position.
People that refer to it as "obsession with 17 year old boys" will never understand.

Exactly. It's kind of like taking a look into the future of what might be for LSU football. I'm not obsessed with it, but I get it.

I disagree. I bet there are a good deal of older fans on that board that use all of the time they could be spending with the wife they hate and the kids they don't want.
Some people need a way to get through this thing we call life quickly.

This is what I think. I feel like the majority of these guys are in their 30s and 40s.

It just feels lame and pathetic if it's any more than a passing interest.

So is sex slaving the nuns the same as banging the cheerleaders?

Bball recruiting is still lowkey fun to keep up with. Especially with Will GOAT at the helm, plus all the dirty shoe company shenanigans.

I can't help but ask what kind of personal lives these people must have.
Probably same kind of life as your avg poli board poster but more level headed.

Some of the ones on the rant don’t consider you real fans unless you really follow recruiting.
