We go to the Renaissance festivals every year. A lot of the folks who really go all out will spend the whole weekend there camping out, partying really hard and generally just having a good time. I know people who plan their years around going to many different festivals with many different large events in mind.
I wouldn't base my opinion off the Louisiana festival. It's a fun, but very small festival baw.

.now that I think of it, aren’t these more “Medieval Festivals” rather than “Renaissance Festivals”?
I'll get nerdy with this answer. People may dress up and LARP like they are in the Medieval age, but the court is generally Elizabethan or of King Henry VIII.

I don’t get it either.
But I get that different people have different hobbies.

It's just folks having fun. I don't really get it, but I also don't see the fun in fishing either.

I wouldn't go, not my thing, but I don't judge those that do.

I just don't get it, man.
You should go to one and see what it's like. But only if it doesn't interfere with one of your civil war reenactment weekends.

Fun way to kill a day and escape for a while. Fun shows and acts and crafts. Vendors with interesting pieces. It’s a great time. Lots of tits in corsets. It’s like a masquerade, or a themed costume party

Now I dress up. I’ve got this flowy blue pirate shirt and some nice linen pants

Because most of them have a foot tickling fetish and they want to tickle women’s feet.

It isn’t for me. But there are far worse things that people could be doing.

Some have jousting which is pretty cool to watch. I took a group of kids in a world history class a few years ago.

They are swinger/polyamory gatherings.

Classic Slippy thread. Make a stupid post and when it doesn’t go well, doesn’t respond once.
