If they look forward to it and have a good time while there, good for them. Happiness is rare these days, I’m happy for those that can experience it. Whether it’s fishing, hiking, shopping, flying, running, quilting, bowling, Renissance Fairs, paint ball, wood working or whatever gives someone the ability to relax and smle, good for them and do it as often as you can.

Why do you post under an alias on an online forum centered around kids playing games?

Why do grown men, who don't have kids, go to super hero movies?
Different strokes. Lots of people don't understand me watching a lot of high school football in person. Heck, I watch it online, if I can't get out. I haven't coached anything since the 90's, but love watching some coaches, and some teams from year to year.
I know a guy that does the competitive sword fighting with wooden swords. He's part of a group that dresses up in Medieval garb. They have a hierarchy that they adhere to, when they're together. When the guy I know got married, they all dressed up for the wedding. They served homemade mead, played music from Excalibur and Conan the Barbarian during the wedding, and a guy with a peg leg preformed the ceremony, marrying them on a wooden stage, that he walked around on. Men carried the bride up to the stage on one of their shields, with either O Fortuna from Excalibur, or the main theme from Conan, playing. Not something I would normally think about doing, but I went to the wedding, wore one of his outfits, drank mead, and had a great time!

People want to feel accepted.
That includes nerds.
Nerds like the renaissance.
The nerds meet in groups to celebrate the apple of their nerd eye, and in the process commune with other nerds and thus provide some socialization.
Sometimes those nerds who attend these gatherings will include some pretty good looking women.
Moral of the story, be nice to nerdy girls.

I was in the gold club years ago with a group of people. Somehow a stripper was at our table... I think waiting for her time to go on stage.. She started talking about a renaissance festival in Hammond in which she did something. At the time I had no fricking clue what she was talking about. I just remember she saying "yall promise to come see me perform?" and wrote down the date on a napkin so we would remember and me telling her I will make sure everyone of us will go.. No we didn't go.

Some adults enjoy renaissance festivals
Other adults enjoy video games
And others enjoy shite you don't like
Also who tf would cite this as a reason against it? She looks as good or better than most bitches at music fests

I have been once when I was dating my wife. It was ok. First impression was there are a bunch of weirdos here. We just kind of people watched and laughed. We never got into character with the “My lord” and “My lady” comments. The horse jousting games was fun to watch.

They didn’t have condoms back in olden times like that, end of story. Sorry ladies. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.

My ex brother in law was in to that stuff. One weekend he asked myself to be in it and I politely turned him down just to not my thing. I decided to bring my 3 young kids at the time and go see what this was all about. I couldn't stop laughing when I arrived to see duct tape on some made up swords and the outfits but after watching the opening battle scene when both teams collided at the center I can say that myself and kids had a blast watching.

Turkey legs, boobs, beer, jousting, literal sword fights, cool history stuff, what’s not fun about it?
