re: Some shelters say they have a shortage of gluten free foods

I promise you the majority of people on gluten free diets don't have celiac disease. They may feel bad if they eat it but it's not gonna kill them.
I mean, why does anyone have any issue with people wanting to feel better? This is the strangest thing for people to get upset about. It's not far fetched to believe most people aren't fully adapted to process wheat, as it was introduced very late in the evolutionary game. Digestion requires massive amounts of energy. If people are more efficient at digesting certain things and feel better when they change their diet, or even if it is just the placebo effect, it really doesn't impact my life sans the people that talk about it constantly.

In other news, I'm having trouble locating fresh, grass fed, beef for my paleo lifestyle.

Some of you mouth breathers need to stick to complaining about Hillary.
Gluten sensitivity is a real thing and is legitimate as proven by recent trials, shite was all over the news a few weeks ago.
A single dose of wheat, and my daughter won't shite for a week. But because she doesn't have full-blown Celiac, she doesn't count, right.
The above meant solely for the gluten argument. I'll never allow my family to rely on a shelter for our dietary choices.

One of my old coworkers blamed gluten for her emptying out hers and her husbands investment accounts.
She said it made her "feel cloudy."

Found another one.

I had two students when I was a GA that were very gluten intolerant to the point where they were severe physical pain if they ate gluten. Pretty sure it's called celiac's disease.

That's the point. You either have Celiac disease or you don't. Non-celiac gluten intolerance does not exist.

Worked with one on a rig. He almost died from drinking too many beers at 16 or something. Not sure if that's was true or not

Everything I make is "gluten-free" I never add gluten to anything. Just flour.
I mean if you want to be super poor, you can eat rice and beans every day. No gluten in that.

If it's a placebo effect then it's bullshite, dude.
Please provide me links to these recent trials that show how gluten is destroying america.
Probably one of those morons that didn't get their kids vaccinated because you read about some bullshite trials in an e-book.

I would only eat shelter food if it has gluten and GMO's

A shelter is just that, a shelter. They are not set up to provide for everybody's medical and dietary needs. They provide what they have.
If I had a celiac child, I would make damn sure I was always set up to meet his needs no matter how big the emergency is.
Shelters also do not have your insulin, Prozac, and dialysis machines. If you need that, evacuate to where you can get what you need.

Nature used to take care of people who were allergic to food.

Yes of course but I guarantee you there are mother frickers that claim they need to be gluten free and they don't, and they are taking the food away from people with celiac disease, an actual disease diagnosed by real GI doctors.
I imagine this is the case....if the gluten free food was saved for those with celiac then there would probably be more than enough. Surprisingly the people I know with celiac don't bitch a whole lot....they just find what they can eat and make it work.

i mean it may not be the most optimal food choice on earth, but wheat basically built human society
literally our concept of society and civilization were created around wheat. if it were such a burden on humanity, i doubt that it would have been such a spark in the development of humanity

the guy i worked with never complained. if we were cooking he would look through ingredients before hand. we would try to accommodate him but its in everything

Gluten free is a myth. Most people aren't gluten sensitive
They will be ok
