UNO should probably become a JUCO.

I think the only engineering schools in Louisiana are LSU, UNO, Tech, ULL, and Tulane (and Tulane students have to take classes at UNO).

Doesn’t McNeese have an engineering school also ?

SUNO’s College of Education is not done well. It is in fact a pyramid scheme.

Southeastern has more dog in the fight of “Louisiana Universities” than a few others.

Aren’t all of the engineering and graduate students foreigners?

It needs to find a core mission that serves the state or be consolidated / eliminated.

UNO needs to be shut down

A city the size of New Orleans should have a solid public university.

I think the only way UNO can survive long term is to completely change their focus.

Louisiana not having a maritime academy is beyond my understanding. I guess it’s because all the vessel captain jobs are like a mafia.

UNO needs to be shutdown. Their graduation rate is in the single digits. It’s a jobs program not an education program.

Why doesn't UNO embrace the online stuff. Become a diploma mill and basically sell degrees nationally and internationally. Plenty of stupid people out there wanting the buy a useless degree to hang on their wall.

Delgado is more valuable than UNO, and having SUNO remain open is just ridiculous.

If you take LSU, ULaf and Tech out of the equation SLU is tops among the rest.

News flash! Last November, it was announced that Louisiana will receive a maritime academy. . . will be headquartered at Harvard on the Bayou.

I took some classes at UNO! I needed a place to live after Katrina and it was cheaper to pay for couple classes and dorm fees than what rent was going for after katrina. Learned something and got somewhere to live for a year. It was a win win situation.

The average ACT score at Southern University at New Orleans is 15.according to PrepScholar. The average ACT score at the University of New Orleans is 23.

The salary after graduation from Southern University at New Orleans varies by major programs where the average earning after 10 years is $32,100. Keeping such a failed institution open IS racism.

UNO fills a need that everyone wants to ignore.

I’m all for keeping it open if it does in fact do that. Seems like it does but do the numbers back it up?

2) UNO used to get a lot of students who were barely ready for college, and certainly could not handle going away to college. By and large, these kids are now going to Delgado. While that is good for the debt loads of these students, and for the state as a whole, the improvement of Delgado is costing UNO.

This is the model much of our state higher education should be operating under. There's really no reason for schools like UNO and especially SUNO to even exist, along with a few other 4 year universities in this state.
