It can only be a silver ball or the gold ball that was in the box with two gold balls.

50/50 chance it's the gold one

Wrong. It can be the silver ball. It can also be either of the golf balls in the two gold box, considering you could have chosen either of them on the first pick. 67% chance.

Why is this 27 pages

Because there is a limited amount of posts per page. It is driven by the total number of posts.

Simple division, Mr. CUP.

I saw the thread title this morning and thought it had serious potential.

Thanks for clarifying. I was about to start a thread about it

I've considerable experience on this site. All with the same name. Never been banned. I irritate some folks though.

Can you explain why if you run a simulation of this thousands of times, you land near 67% and not 50%?

because the AS box as an option, is included in those sims?

Run the sim with the only options being the AG box and the M box, and get back to me

It can be a silver ball
It can be the "sister" to a gold ball that shared the box and that's it.

That's it, one of two balls.

It's not either of the silver "sisters"
Its not the silver ball that shared s box with the gold ball.
It's not the gold ball in your hand.

The ball left in the box has to one of two balls not three. A gold one or a silver one.

Now if I had one box and it contained three gold balls and one silver ball then if I reached in and pulled a gold ball out, the chances of me pulling another gold ball out is 67%.

I think the OP should start another one tomorrow but change it to pulling a silver ball.

Or use 2 completely different colors..

Guys are using the math incorrectly.

Deductive reasoning works

It's 50/50. You have to draw out of the same box. There is only 1 gold ball left or 1 silver ball left.

You're wrong. It's the Monty Hall problem. Ignore the all silver box.

You've got two boxes. One box has two gold balls. The other box has a gold and a silver ball.

You reach into a box and pull out a gold ball. There were three gold balls, one box with two and one box with one. What are the chances that the gold ball you pulled out came from the all gold box?

You're unintelligent if you think it's 50/50.

Bruh, it's 50/50. There is one box with two golds and one box with a silver. If I take a gold out of either one, I'm left with either a gold or silver, ergo, 50/50.

Did they clarify whether it was yellow gold, white gold, some off color variant, etc.?

If that is the case, the chance of having the same color gold is 0%.

How do we know all the gold balls are the same gold variant?

, doesn't change my take that there are 3 possible balls left for that second choice.
